As Barack Obama is to announce the new 'Drug Czar', millions of Americans and the entire world is waiting anxiously to hear news of reformed drug policy which does not put peaceful medical marijuana users in prison and puts an end to the ridiculous 'War On Drugs' which eats billions of dollars each year while the illegal drug trafficking persists right under the wings of the international drug mafia controlled covertly by the men behind the curtain.

All this money which could feed thousands of people living below the poverty line across the world is being wasted and not made proper use of thanks to deep rooted greed and corruption set in the hearts of the ones in power who seek to dominate the clueless masses. All this is changing NOW, and people are awakening to the emerging truth of our spiritual self, letting go off the materialistic fervour which has pushed mankind into the dark spaces of an ego centric world view. The World is changing and this process is accelerating with more and more people connecting on social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Orkut & Hi5. Facebook in particluar has brought the whole world together on one extremely user friendly platform with all these events, groups, pages, applications ... weaving a magnificent information network connecting millions and counting .... Among the many petitions reaching the Obama office is this one on Facebook ...

Obama on Drug Policy

To: President-elect Obama

We petition that…

When you called the War on Drugs an "utter failure" in 2004, you were right. A 2008 Zogby poll found that 3 out of 4 of Americans agree with you.

When appointing the head of your Office of National Drug Control Policy, please select someone with health, science, or education credentials rather than a military general, law enforcement official, or "tough on drugs" politician. The next "Drug Czar" should base policy on proven methodology rather than counterproductive ideology. At a minimum, he or she should support these measures:

*Ending the racially unjust disparity in sentencing for crack and powder cocaine.

*Ending the practice of prosecuting patients in states with medical marijuana laws.

*Eliminating the federal law that denies financial aid to students with drug convictions.

We all know that the War on Drugs is failing because handcuffs don't cure addictions -- doctors do. You have the opportunity to bring us the change we need. Will you?

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

It comes as no surprise that Barack Obama has smoked pot and is open and honest about it unlike others such as ex-president Bill Clinton who said when he was in England, he experimented with Marijuana but did not like it and never inhaled ! .... hehehe ... Obama is sensitive towards decriminalizing the use of medical marijuana and says, "I think the war on drugs has been a failure, and I think we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws". Obama continued, saying that while he supported decriminalization, he did not support the full legalization of marijuana.

"It appears Senator Obama, alone among the major candidates for the presidency, has the courage to state the obvious: it is time that we stopped treating responsible marijuana smokers like criminals," said NORML Executive Director Allen St. Pierre. "According to a recent CNN/Time Warner poll, 76% of the American people agree with Senator Obama, as well as the 48 million Americans who smoked marijuana last year."

Fixing Marijuana Laws is definitely a good thing to do and Obama and Co have done a remarkable job at getting the attention of millions who hope to see the change Obama promises to bring to America which affects the rest of the world just like the Domino Effect.

Obama speaks ... “My attitude is if the science and the doctors suggest that the best palliative care and the way to relieve pain and suffering is medical marijuana then that’s something I’m open to because there’s no difference between that and morphine when it comes to just giving people relief from pain,” Obama said. “But I want to do it under strict guidelines. I want it prescribed in the same way that other painkillers or palliative drugs are prescribed.”

On Reality Sandwich i came across an article written by Michel Anderson on the subject of a hopeful change in drug laws by Obama and Co, also encouraging citizens of the US to flood Obama's Transition Team with letters on the change we wish to see in the current drug policies of America.
