Slumdog Millionaire Bags 7 BAFTAs Out Of 11 Nominations

Slumdog Millionaire won seven BAFTA Awards out of the 11 nominations that it had received. The movie won awards for the Best Film, Best Director(Danny Boyle), Best Adapted screenplay (Simon Beaufoy), Best Music (A R Rahman), Best Cinematography (Anthony Dod Mantle), Best Editing (Chris Dickens) and the Best Sound (Resul Pookutty, Glen Freemantle, Richard Pryke, Tom Sayers, Ian Tapp).

Kate Winslet was named best actress for The Reader - having also been nominated in the same category for Revolutionary Road - while Mickey Rourke claimed a much deserved best actor award for his role in The Wrestler. "It's such a pleasure to be back here, out of the darkness," Rourke said after accepting his prize, which continues his career renaissance. Heath Ledger was named best supporting actor for his turn as The Joker in The Dark Knight with Penelope Cruz winning the best supporting actress prize for Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Related Posts :
