In this featured video, Visionary Artist Alex Grey addresses a gathering at TEDx Maui on 'Cosmic Creativity - How Art Evolves Consciousness' ! He starts with a little about his journey and how it all started for him following a sincere prayer to God which led him to taking LSD for this first time at a party, where he also met the love of his life, Allyson Grey.

The color grey brings the opposites together hence Alex chose to keep his last name Grey, after he went through, what he describes as a 'Spiritual Re-birth" following his LSD trip. :)

The film examines the re-emergence of archaic techniques of ecstasy in the modern world by weaving a synthesis of ecological and evolutionary awareness,electronic dance culture, and the current pharmacological re-evaluation of entheogenic compounds.


Within a narrative framework that imagines consciousness itself to be evolving, Entheogen documents the emergence of techno-shamanism in the post-modern world that frames the following questions: How can a renewal of ancient initiatory rites of passage alleviate our ecological crisis? What do trance dancing and festivals celebrating unbridled artistic expression speak to in our collective psyche?

How do we re-invent ourselves in a disenchanted world from which God has long ago withdrawn? Entheogen invites the viewer to consider that the answers to these questions lie within the consciousness of each and every human being, and are accessible if only we give ourselves permission to awaken to the divine within.

After hearing Barack Obama's speech in BerIin, and noting the degree of excitement and hope that he generated throughout many countries besides the US, I started to see him as one of the first true "world leaders." This may be partly because of his extraordinary childhood and political life that has bridged many cultures. Obama's restraint and intelligence, exhibited as foes were bating him throughout the campaign, his heartful clarity coming through in his talks are all qualities of a highly evolved person.

We need to consider our planetary citizenship, because solving the world's ecological and economic problems, and creating a culture of peace and reconciliation will require the co-operation of all nations.

Perhaps you can use this symbol of Barack Obama to send him a prayer of support, to send all the loving hopeful healing and creative energy that we can focus on him so that he can perform the task of leadership in the most effective and powerful way for the greatest good, for the greatest number.

There’s a fascinating theory by Terence McKenna. He believes that human evolution was accelerated by the consumption of psilocybyin [psychedelic] mushrooms. When the rainforest receded into grassland in Africa a million years ago, the hominids came out of the trees and started looking for other food sources. If you look at primates in Africa, they’re always flipping over cow dung to find beetle grubs, and these mushrooms grow on cow dung.





"And if you ate these mushrooms, they would do a bunch of pretty interesting things that would tend to accelerate evolution. In low doses, mushrooms actually increase visual acuity, which makes you better hunter. They also make you hornier and give you consciousness-expanding experiences. It kills the ego, and it makes you look at life from an enhanced and much more objective perspective. Those things alone, point to one of the possible reasons the human brain doubled in size over a period of two million years. Which is the biggest mystery in the entire fossil record. The doubling in size of an organ over the period of two million years."
