Namaste Dear One ... You are reading this transmission now only because you already know this deep within your soul to be happening as all the signs around us are suggesting. Our planet is on the path of rebirth and this process is not something new .... its been happening for a long long time from our linear understanding of time. Everything goes through some sort of metamorphosis with time ... and Gaia and all her children are no exception to this. We do at times feel the collective pain experienced by our mother who is deeply saddened by the way we treat each other, while living unhealthy lives in total disharmony with the natural laws that govern life on Earth.

Our own lives are a living example of this ongoing metamorphosis which is helping us reprogram our heavily conditioned minds which tell us who we are ... what we should be doing ... what is beautiful ... how should one be living an ideal life ?! We have artificial constructs in our imagination defining human relationships in our limiting ways. Love ... Partnership ... Marriage ... all seem like a prison cell for so many of us after a point because we never taught what it was to love ourselves ... to be by oneself without emotionally depending on someone else to complete us in some way, filling up a void, which technically speaking isn't even there :)

With little understanding of reality at large we step into this world with laid down programs that constantly seek to govern us, covertly, with subliminal messages which lay deeply embedded within the collective unconscious mind. This is the reality we share dear one ... We can pretend to be isolated from the rest of the world but the truth is that we are the world experiencing itself through a unique expression of itself, YOU ! As you look at the world outside you see little hope for real change to manifest as the world progressively seems to be going in the wrong direction. Pursuing false images of ourself ... chasing narcissistic ideas have kept us from growing further and achieving our truest potential as energetic beings capable of doing what we would 'normally' consider magical things. Healing ourselves and the planet is our mission at hand and there are many of us who are here for the same reason, however might have lost our way along the spiral many times, time and again .... but now is when we are being given all the signs by the universe to let go off our limited thinking capacities and experience true limitless potential as infinite beings of light,  we are ....

Cosmic Oneness

Recently came across this beautiful message from Judith Kusel ... worth sharing !

"This is the time of rebirth for all of us."

So many people tend to cling to the old patterns, mostly because of fear of stepping out of their own comfort zones, the tested, the familiar, and dive into the relatively unknown which is awaiting all of us.

The truth is that the unknown will stay unknown, until we finally let go of the old habits, thinking, believing, acting, being, etc.

When we finally let go and void is created, and Cosmos will immediately move into that void to fill it with something new. But if there is no space for the new to move into, then the soul tends to get stuck.

A lot of my energy work in opening portals/gateways in the last few months and years, has left me with a very clear understanding, that any form of stuck-ness, stagnancy, fear, submission, the losing of soul freedom, leads to souls being stuck in the ethers, and then clogging up the energy centers and vortices of the earth.

When I witnessed what has been released, I often just have tears running down my cheeks for the poor souls who were stuck there, we stuck in fear and submission, enslavement modes.


The same applies to trauma - souls who do not dissolve trauma also tend to get stuck, because they are too stuck in the victim mode, the dramas, and then they will get stuck in the energetic very low density energy field, they created for themselves!

Therefore it is best to constantly do the inner work, to be ready to explore new horizons, break through the self-imposed barriers of resistance, and have the guts to finally break free.

I treasure my freedom to be more than anything else, for it has taught me, that every time I allow myself to be led beyond norm, I grow with leaps and bounds and then am ready for the next octave of experiences, which then shift the consciousness level ten thousand times.

This is what is now awaiting us: - that breaking through the self-imposed barriers collectively and into the new Earth - the new creation !

“Excuse me, I have the unfortunate urge to reproduce. Would you please accommodate me?”

Sex. It’s the driving force of nature; from the pollination of plants to the biological urge to reproduce in animals and humans alike. It’s therefore not surprising that most of our energy arises from our libido.

For Celebrators of solitude, sex is not a subject that is often discussed. While some Lone Wolves are quite sexually active, others aren’t at all. But there’s a secret force that lurks within your sexual desire that can be used to enhance your life. Few of us know about it.

Sex, essentially, is the essence of creation; from the birth of all life, to the birth of passionate and artistic expression. For centuries man has tried to channel this energy into more fulfilling areas and higher states of consciousness.

Apart from the Tantric and Taoist sexual energy practices, there are countless other references to the hidden powers within sex. The Kabbalah for instance, sees sexual desire as the deepest spiritual expression one can have. And in Yogic philosophy, our pure sexual energy is dormant until awakened in its highest form known as “Kundalini”.


Many esoteric groups also practice something called “Sex Magick”, which can be connected to Psychologist Carl Jung’s notion of sexual alchemy (similar to Freud’s sexual sublimination). This essentially says that, with enough will, we can transform the raw energy from our libidos into golden creativity.

Famous examples of practitioners of this transformation of sexual energy into creativity include Nikola Tesla, Gandhi, Richard Wanger, Dante Alighieri, Beethoven, Homer, Henry Thoreau and Leonardo Da Vinci.

From Sex To Intense Focus and Creativity

As part of your apprenticeship into shamanism you are often required to perform abstinence for prolonged periods of time. In my own experience, I understood this to be an exertion of commitment to the path, a trial in developing will power and focus despite ones natural instincts.

Sex during this stage of your spiritual path can be seen as a distraction, wasting the body’s energy and motivation.

During this time I noticed within me increased amounts of energy, focus and creativity. I was so fascinated by the intensity of these newly aroused qualities that I experimented with them for a few years.

My greatest personal growth occurred during this period of sexual abstinence, as did my deepest inner insights. I also experienced boundless levels of physical energy, and developed a mental focus that has lasted me up to now.

My experience of sexual abstinence has shown me that the admonitions regarding sex in so many spiritual scriptures, aren’t necessarily because sex is innately bad (if it was, none of us would be here!) I believe sex is discouraged because it can be your strongest distraction, your worst enemy that takes away your attention from intensely pursuing your spiritual path of fulfilment.

Sexual Over-Indulgence

As with everything else in our stimulation-seeking modern society, we abuse sex. And this may very well be due to the last few centuries of repression and stigma that has surrounded sex.

Now that sexuality has become more acceptable, however, we naturally react and over-indulge in it, as can be seen in the media, publicity, or the nightclub nearest to you.

You don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home to witness sexual over-indulgence. The internet has played a big role in revolutionizing our excessive indulgence with; the promotion of masturbation and wastage of sexual energy, the amount of time wasted browsing porn sites, the dehumanization of women and men by teaching us to see them merely as forms of flesh to be used and discarded.

Of course this is not all bad, and the world is never black and white. Pornography also works as a catharsis in the release of built up anxieties, tensions and hysteria as well as a catalyst to explore our sexual guilt and denied sexual thoughts and feelings by learning to embrace more fully our shadow elements in the sexual domain.

However, when motivated by sexual desire, we develop vaster imaginations, courage, will power, persistence and creativity that we weren’t even aware of. Sometimes the sexual energy within us is so strong we are willing to actually die, hurt others or risk imprisonment to fulfil them. Image if we could harness this energy and use it towards other, greater purposes?

Harnessing Your Sexual Energy

Having a strong sex drive simply isn’t enough - you must also learn how to use it. Sexual transformation, or transmutation, means changing your energy and thoughts from physical expression to energy and thoughts of another, usually creative, purpose.

Truth is, we are all sexual beings. Period. The path of sexual transformation is not about rapidly indulging sex, denying sex, running away from sex, or even overcoming the desire for sex. It is about accepting sexual drive as part of your nature, as the base notes to your higher symphony. Yes we are sexual beings, but we are more than just that - sexuality is just once aspect of who we are.

I have seen many who feel they should rise “above” their “lower nature” elements, and thus decide to flee from or ignore the sexual elements of their natures, considering them primitive or mediocre. Don’t make this mistake, the mistake of confusing the idea of spirituality with that of escaping or repressing aspects of your authentic being.

I’ve learnt that it is never good to repress anything in life. Repression is another form of postponing, in other words, whatever you repress will eventually catch up to you. Sexual energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transformed.

The following techniques I have recommended to men and women alike in the past, who have shown interest in experimenting with their sexual energies:

Seven Day Experiment: For a whole week try abstaining from any sexual activity - either alone or with someone else. After the week, explore how you think and what you feel. While some people will benefit immensely, others will struggle with built up negative energy (e.g. anxiety, frustration, grumpy moods etc.) This experiment will inform you of what areas need to be worked on in your life, and if you’re ready for an energy transformation in your present state.

Observe Non-judgementally: While abstaining from sex, allow any feelings that arise within you come, without any judgement. See them as they are, they are natural. Simply observe what these desires and feelings are telling you about yourself. Also try refraining from labelling them as “sexual energy”. Rather, treat them as a sensation, like when you experience something “hot” or “cold”, and experience them without any expectations of getting rid of them. Some people by simply observing, have orgasmic rushes of energy without any physical stimulation.

Keep Having Sex: I’m aware of how taxing becoming aware of your sexual energy can be initially (especially if you’re in a relationship). One way to overcome this is to have sex, but not reach the point of ejaculation or orgasm. This is an ancient Tantric practice, and you’ll immediately begin to experience the effects, such as increased energy, focus and inspiration. To engage in sex awakens your sexual energy that in failing to reach its climax, will remain within your body for a few hours at its peak state.

Sexual experiences are one of our first spiritual experiences in life. It’s that moment in time when we fill ourselves with a calm present awareness, completely absorbed in the now, through a sexual orgasm. I hope this article has shown you that we must embrace the spiritual power that exists within our sexuality, rather than rejecting or throwing it away.

Greetings Dear One .... If you have been following this blog for a while, you have probably witnessed how it has been evolving .... with time. What initially started of as a way to vent out feelings and emotions has turned out to be one of my life's missions which I am happy to have discovered .... at the right time, as always.

Relationships teach us emotions ... our emotions have a lot to say about ourselves. Once you are awakened to your own soul, there is no looking back and going back to someone you think you were. Perhaps, this change is what most of us find hard to wrap our intellect around, also because we haven't yet been able to open our hearts to loving all .... our mind, this sense of separation (the ego) keeps us in a perpetual state of suffering, as it desires ... its disappointed ... it seeks ... it fails .... it also wins at times .... giving it a false sense of accomplishment and momentary gratification. Finally all seeking, no matter what it helps accomplish has emotions attached with it ... which keeps bringing us important lessons, so we can evolve.

The Dark Night of the Soul may seem like recurring for some of us in our lives because he haven't yet learnt what was meant to be learnt .... sometimes the lesson is simply to let go of our illusions of the ego mind and just be. It is however not so easy without the guidance of someone who has walked the same path. For that reason we have our spirit guides, if only we listen to them enough through our own intuition. But we must go through a certain dark passage in our lives once we truly surrender to the universe to show us the way .... only then we truly appreciate the light. Until then we can keep reincarnating many lifetimes without having achieved much, which is essential to our progress as souls.


Sex, is a powerful medium to connect, heal ... exchange energy .... while experiencing the divine in this union of the opposites, the masculine and feminine energies. The world thrives on Sex, however its true purpose remains widely unrecognized as most seek instant gratification through constant orgasms and remain lost in the imaginary world of fantasies. It may be a very confusing period for some of us who are in difficult relationships, because of a changed lifestyle or worldview which may not be in sync with our partner .... this may lead to a lot of chaos and suffering in our lives, as the human drama plays out .... Sex and Love are two terms which have been twisted and manipulated by 'consensus reality' in so many ways that it has taken many perverse forms and keeps human consciousness in lower densities ... not allowing us to move towards higher frequencies. Love is who we are .... Sex is a way of expressing this love towards someone we are mutually drawn to from the deepest core of our being .... not solely because of other external factors such as looks, social status .... etc. Until we have recognized ourselves as a 'soul' ... our 'ego' will meet the 'ego' in others .... and we continue to feed our illusions and fantasies, as long as it lasts .... When two souls unite ... the divine magic beyond our limited self is experienced.

Are You Ready for Soul Sex?

Everywhere we turn we are bombarded with sex: media, magazines, movies, billboards. It’s everywhere and constant. Marketing and advertising uses sex to sell everything from hamburgers, to underwear, to cars.

As you know Sex itself is an incredibly powerful energy that when not understood can be the source of much confusion and suffering.

Regular sex is simply about a release, or relieving yourself of stress. It’s the type that leaves you deeply unfulfilled.

Soul sex is the understanding that it is really the exchange of energy, your energies and your partner’s. It’s alchemy that when engaged together in love can open and heal you, your mind, your body, your heart and Soul. Real sex is an energetic exchange and sharing not just a means to release or satisfy the body. Your body might be satisfied but, if sex just remains on a purely physical level, it will be a fleeting high. Real fulfilment cannot be found through the body alone. Pain and pleasure come and go.


The pleasure from sex that arises simply through the body is incredibly transitory. Soul sex happens when you recognize who you are and who the other is. First and foremost, you are Souls, not just a physical body. Then your lovemaking becomes the opportunity for your Souls through the vehicle of your body to dance, exchange, communicate, play and express loving as a gift to each other. When you engage your beloved sexually with the fullness of love and you no longer see your partner as a separate self or simply as another body of flesh, a profound shift occurs within you and your lovemaking will deepen. Then the real exchange happens on the Soul level. At the Soul level there is a sacred communion, the illusions of separation between you and the other drop away and you dissolve as ONE.

As you realize that you are not the body, your partner is not the body, but you are Souls, you can allow each other’s body to serve as a temple becoming the portal into a deeper dimension of the Infinite. What you then exchange with your partner through your bodies is Love energy itself. Then it becomes in the truest sense Lovemaking. You are both sharing the love that you are in that moment.

So Soul sex is the surrender of yourself, not just to your partner but also to the Divine that is living alive within him/her Itself.

Then, something magical happens. Sex moves from needing something, trying to get something, or a game of power and control. It is a letting go of control. It becomes about deep surrender to that which is living and breathing us all.

True lovemaking happens the more you realize and embody that what you are is LOVE itself.

When you make love, you let go. Then there is no you or other. There is only Now. There is only Freedom.

Perhaps this is why we are so obsessed with sex a culture. Yet what we are really seeking is not simply a momentary release – but something far deeper. We are searching for that which is formless and beyond pain or pleasure.

You are ultimately seeking your true Self.

Sex then becomes no more a path to enlightenment, but the very manifestation of Enlightenment itself.

Your lovemaking becomes the expression of the true Light of who you are, manifesting itself as an offering through your body.


So:

Give up all techniques, strategies and resistances to loving. Let go. Release. Relax. Trust. Dive in. Embrace.

Simply surrender.

When you surrender, there is no more you or another.

There is no more lover, loved or loving.

There is only Love.

Love. Now.

The question of Plastic is quite bothersome for most of us as there seems to be little that can be done about seeing the extent of trash is being strewn around everyday in the name of progress and globalization. This is anything but growth made in the right direction. We continue to take from the Earth with little or no regard for we are giving back, in most cases its garbage and toxic pollutants that might take a while for the Earth to clean up on its own. This way of life is surely doomed and we are quite steadily marching on towards an end of times scenario when the Earth can take no more and decides to clean up the scum from the Planet, which sadly might include us unless we decide to change our ways.

Plastic and all other artificial chemicals as they are popularly known as are all finally from this biosphere we call Planet Earth and the Earth knows best how to deal with itself. We live under the delusion of being in charge of all life forms on Gaia, when the truth is that we too are one of its living, breathing, functioning cells .... seeing itself from human eyes ! Plastics are a by product of the Oil and Gas Industry and by bringing in cleaner and more sustainable forms of energy we will automatically start phasing out plastics. Broadly categorized as Free Energy, there are many kinds of free energy devices that have the potential to power the entire world without burning any fossil fuels. Nikola Tesla's Wardenclyffe Tower is one such example of Free Energy technology suppressed for personal monetary gain by a few greedy men.


With pollution levels rising to alarming heights many people are now seriously taking a look at the garbage problem at hand and what can be done about it. Something each one of us can do is start segregating our garbage into wet waste, dry waste and plastics. This is our home and it is up to us to keep it clean. Plastic eating Fungus in the Amazon Rainforest and other such Plastic Remediation tools devised to deal with the Garbage problem are some examples of solutions to the growing Plastic problem.


An expedition to the Amazon by a group of Yale researchers has led to the discovery of a fungus called "Pestalotiopsis Microspora" which can survive on a diet of only polyurethane, one of the most common pollutant from industrial plastics used by humans. What's even more amazing is that the plastic eating fungus can feast on polyurethane in an anaerobic (oxygen-free) environment - the perfect match for chowing down on trash at the bottom of a landfill.

19-year-old Boyan Slat, an Aerospace Engineering student at TU Delft came up with this brilliant idea to clean up the oceans ! Slat's design came out of a school paper about the possibility of remediation of the ocean garbage patches, which went on to win numerous accolades, including Best Technical Design 2012 at the Delft University of Technology. He developed the concept even further that year, and presented it at TedXDelft 2012.

The Ka'apor Indians of the Amazon have started fighting back to save the amazonian jungles by confronting illegal loggers who are incessantly destroying the rain forests of Amazon. They started a jungle expedition to search for and expel loggers from the Alto Turiacu Indian territory, near the Centro do Guilherme municipality in the northeast of Maranhao state in the Amazon basin, Brazil.


“Illegal loggers have long invaded areas of the Amazon rainforest. Tired of what they say is a lack of sufficient government assistance, the Ka’apor Indians feel it is time to take matters into their own hands.

The Ka’apor Indians are the legal inhabitants and caretakers of the territory along with four other tribes. The tribe sends out their warriors who hunt down loggers and drive them off their land.




"Nossa Terra - Our Land" is a short documentary film which takes an exclusive look inside the word of the Kaapor People of Brazil as they struggle to keep their land and their culture. The documentary includes a tour of the forest and how they hunt, find water, and use the forest for their survival.




On several occasions, Indians around Brazil have been subject to violence and attacks from illegal loggers. This time the Indians fought back.

“We got tired of waiting for the government,” Ka’apor leader Irakadju said.

The Ka’apor Indians’ way of life depends on the forest. They are not the only tribe to complain about exploiters; other warriors around the country have also set up patrols to drive away those exploiting the forest’s natural resources.

“Our forest was being taken away from us, but we woke up,” Irakadju told me one day. “Many whites feel that the standing forest is of no use. They cannot see that a living jungle is good for the entire world and helps the Earth to breathe.”



The Kaapor Indians have little choice left but to fight back in order to save their home, the Amazon forest, from being destroyed. All forests and trees on the planet sustain a very delicate ecosystem we don't quite fully understand and if we don't stop now, our future as a civilization on this planet looks bleak. We must strive to keep the planet green adopting sustainable ways of living, in harmony with the natural way. For that we must first begin to understand what is the natural way ? We must get back into the wilderness and reconnect with others aspects of ourselves we've for so long been disconnected from ... Sometimes an inner revolution is what is needed to bring about the manifestation of real change in our world and each one of us carries that eternal spark within, to light up our world. Tippi Degre, is truly a 'real wild child' having grown up among untamed animals in the African wilderness. Tippi was born in Namibia to French wildlife photographer parents, Alain Degré and Sylvie Robert. Tippi spent her childhood playing with wild animals including lion cubs, a mongoose, a snake, a cheetah, baby zebra, giraffes and crocodiles.

"We live in an electromagnetic universe. Everything spins and vibrates. And because it spins and vibrates we can detect it and know its presence because everything has a frequency. Sound and frequency are the common denominators of all religion. The Primordial Word, let their be light the sound of God that created the universe and all things in it. In Eastern philosophies, it is the primordial sound, the Aum that created all things. Sound is the primordial source of all things in the universe. This lays the foundation for nature's law, which is sometimes referred to as sacred geometry. Sacred in Greek means fixed.

We are dealing with fixed geometry as it is fixed by the divine creator and the primordial source of all things and we realize there is only one law of nature. And that is the law of nature.

Suddenly in the symbol of Aum you see these beautiful shapes that actually are the representations of sound manifesting itself in physical form. This goes back to the 1700's with the plates and then Hans Jenny's research in the 60's and 70's you see some fantastic things that come to light. And that is sound manifesting itself in physical form. The six aspects of Aum are represented in sacred geometry. The six sounds represent the six days of creation. We are combining all this into the laws of nature and it starts to show us the source and origin of these things and it seems to come from sound. The number six is not just restricted to Hinduism and Christianity. Egyptian religion talks about the six aspects of the divine eye of Ra. The five primary Platonic shapes that give rise to all other matter and frequencies are inextricably linked to the six days of creation as first there was a void. All this fits together as the essence of God moves across the waters, across the Void."

A mystical concept derived from Taoism that is extremely relevant in a study of the workings of human Consciousness is the idea of the Tao, a balance of polar energies inherent in all Nature. Taoist tradition teaches that if we are able to strike a balance between these polar forces, and harmonize these two competing polarities within ourselves, justice and order will result within and around us. Falling prey to a perpetual imbalance of these energies would result in the experience of suffering and chaotic conditions.

'Yin and Yang' are two sides of dualism. It is the tail and the head of a coin. The tail is yin, then the head is yang. They exist alongside one another. The head cannot exist without the tail, and the tail cannot exist without the head.

Everything in this world is a dualism. In it, you can always find yin and yang.

The earth we live on is yin, and the sun that brings us warmth is yang. A woman is yin, and a man is yang. Sadness is yin, while joyfulness is yang.

Generally, yin is passive, oppressed and feminine. Yang, on the other hand, is active, bright and masculine.

Managing yin yang is something that we have to do all the time.

Knowing how the yin and yang energies can be altered helps us to have a better control of reality.

By altering the yin-yang relationship, you can make the energy towards your advantage, or strike a new balance that are often helpful to all parties involved.

Let’s look at an example. Imagine that you are in a heated argument.

In most cases, we tend to become agitated when the other party begins to argue. This is quite natural. Unfortunately, the heated energy is yang. When you respond with agitation, it is also yang, and the whole situation will get off-balance.

Try doing something to avert the ‘yang-yang’ imbalance, and achieve the yin-yang balance.

Instead of rebuttal, stay silent for a moment.

See what happens! You are now introducing to the energy field a noticeable level of yin energy. In other words, you are now altering the state of the energy field by lowering the yang energy.

If probably managed, a result can be an amicable yin and yang balance, which is beneficial to both parties.



In this case, Tao is one. The heated argument and silence are duality of the situation, which are two. When they interact in the way that you manage, it emerges the new yin-yang situation, which is known as three. The three could be off balance. But if you can neutralise the two energies, you bring in the yin-yang balance, which is the harmony.

Yin Yang, the symbol of Tao is comprised of a circle, inside of which are two inter-locking swirls, one light and one dark. Inside each swirl is a smaller dot which is the opposite color of the swirl itself The circle represents all of Creation. A circle is never-ending. It has no beginning or end. It is a perfect shape, as it has no corners, rough edges, angle, or irregularities. Thus it represents God, or Creation itself, the All-That-Is.

The two swirls represent change, of which all Creation is comprised. All that exists is in a constant state of change. All matter passes from form to form in an endless dance of Creation. Life itself is change. Inability to change is the equivalent of death and non-existence. Therefore the two swirls inside the circle represent this ever-changing dance of matter taking place within the whole of Creation. The two dots within each swirl represents the idea that, no matter how deeply into one polarity or the other we may travel, the seed of the opposite energy is always carried within each polarity.

Let's now examine the expressions of the polar energies that comprise the Tao. The light area is called Yang. It represents the following general qualities: Light, Solar, Day, Masculine, Active, Analytical, Dominant, Aggressive, Left-Brain, Right-Body. The dark area is Yin, which represents the expression of the following qualities: Dark, Lunar, Night, Feminine, Passive, Intuitive, Submissive,Right-Brain, Left-Body.



A human being's Consciousness is comprised of all of these energies, as is the Cosmos. This is why it may be said that we are created in the image and likeness of God. Neither of these sets of opposing energies should be seen as being all good or all bad. Our Consciousness contains all of them. A balanced and fully-functional Consciousness will contain all of these qualities in balanced proportions. This balance is the essence of the key to mental and physical health, and the ability to think critically and make decisions that will result in prosperity for the individual and society as a whole. When these energies are thrown out of balance, and one begins to severely dominate the other, suffering and chaos are the result.

To find peace and harmony in our lives we need to balance the Yin and Yang energies ... break free from repeatable dramas and negative patterns by finding the right balance ...

Couple of years ago while googling for child birthing options available, I came across natural birthing techniques such as Water Births assisted by midwives at home. In our world today very rarely do we see these options explored by women due to a lack of awareness and the fear of experiencing unimaginable pain during child birthing.

I was simply amazed after I came across a video of an Orgasmic Birth which is nowhere close to the painful screaming and yelling shown in movies.

Nassim Haramein, a well known physicist is also shown assisting his wife Amber during her child birth. Nassim says, "Birthing doesn't necessarily have to be a traumatic experience. It can be an experience of ecstatic joy."

'Orgasmic Birth' is a documentary film that examines the intimate nature of birth, an everyday miracle, and the powerful role it plays in women’s lives when they are permitted to experience it fully. This documentary asks viewers to reexamine everything they thought they knew about giving birth and the potential it holds.

Undisturbed birth is revealed as an integral part of women’s sexuality and a widely neglected human right. Couples share their birth experiences, discussing their fears and how they found the support, nurturing, and ultimately the power and strength within themselves to labor and birth their babies in a beautiful, loving, and ecstatic way.

In the film, world-renowned midwife Ina May Gaskin helps us to understand the normal rhythms of labor and women’s ability to have ecstatic birthing experiences.

It is possible to have an ecstatic birth—in fact, that is the best natural high that I know of. And these states of consciousness are best reached when a woman is fully aware and fully awake. Women don’t have a way to know how their body works until they really try it out in birth. I think that women can be just completely surprised by the change in them from giving birth—you have something powerful in you—that fierce thing comes up—and I think babies need moms to have that fierceness—you feel like you can do anything and that’s the feeling we want moms to have.

Women can experience birth as sensual and pleasurable, and can enter a natural state of ecstasy. New research shows that the intimate experience of birth affects a woman’s life profoundly. Babies are also affected emotionally and physically, and over the long term, by their birth experience.

Orgasmic Birth examines ways in which our current system of care during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period disrupts the normal rhythms of birth and causes a myriad of other problems. Richard Jennings, Director of Midwifery at Bellevue Hospital Birth Center, New York City, says:

The question is, ‘Why not go to a high-risk hospital? No matter what goes wrong, they can deal with it.’ The problem is, as you get higher in the hierarchy, the more they treat every woman as if she is high risk.

According to Maureen Corry, Executive Director of Childbirth Connection, New York City:

Results of the U.S. Listening to Mothers Survey demonstrate that technology-intensive birth is the norm, with a majority of women reporting each of the following interventions while giving birth: electronic fetal monitoring, intravenous drip, artificially ruptured membranes, artificial oxytocin to strengthen contractions, and epidural analgesia.

Although a small percentage of births benefit from the use of technology and surgery, the overuse of technology in hospital births today often causes more harm than good. The U.S. cesarean section rate for 2006 was 30.1%, well above what researchers consider safe and appropriate use. Women today, trusting that all offered techniques and procedures are safe, eagerly accept epidural analgesia for pain relief and artificial oxytocin to induce or augment labor. However, these drugs and procedures have many negative short-term and long-term effects on mother and baby that should be considered and questioned. With almost one in three American women having a surgical birth, our experts look at the current data and discuss the risks that overuse of cesarean section is causing to mothers and babies.

Christiane Northrup, MD, a visionary in the field of women’s health and wellness and a board-certified obstetrician–gynecologist, shares her expertise and insight throughout the film. Regarding postpartum depression, she says:

I want women to know that if you’ve had a cesarean birth, an induction, or an epidural, that doesn’t mean you’re not going to bond with your baby or you can’t love this baby, or any of that. Humans are incredibly adaptable. But why adapt if you don’t have to—if you can let your body do what it was designed to do? I believe that the connection between overuse of intervention and postpartum depression is enormous. If women experienced the ecstasy of birth, they would have the high that would get them through the hormonal changes of the next week. Your body and your inner wisdom give you that high.

Brazilian obstetrician Ricardo Jones, MD, discusses the process of giving birth and the role of a physician in that process:

There is a space within our culture for medical interventions. That is why doctors are important in reducing maternal and prenatal mortality. At the same time, we have to honor the traditions of millions of women throughout the world and throughout history. Women have the inner power and the inner knowledge of giving birth. There is a parallel of sexuality and giving birth. Women who are giving birth, trust yourselves. Trust your inner power. Trust your ability to give life. This is something absolutely sacred that is inside all women in the world. A doctor, nurse, and all midwives in the world are people who are not in the position to teach a woman how to give birth, but to make it easier for her to do what she already knows how to do.

Orgasmic Birth captures intimate home births as well as normal births with midwives in US hospitals. With the decrease in hospital-based midwifery practices in the United States, the option for normal hospital birth is gradually disappearing in many communities. We look at other models of midwifery care, such as in New Zealand and the Netherlands—models that have achieved some of the lowest rates of maternal and infant mortality in the world.

Dr. Wagner discusses how a midwifery model of care is cost effective while contributing to a safe and positive birth for mothers, babies, and families:

More and more countries are losing fewer women and losing fewer babies than the US, including Cuba and Slovenia. Countries that we would normally expect not to have such a great record are losing fewer women and fewer babies than we are. And it’s not because we have bad doctors. We have highly trained, very good doctors, as good as anywhere in the world. We have good nurses—as good as any. We don’t have enough midwives! We have 40,000 obstetricians and 5,000 midwives. Great Britain has 1,000 obstetricians and 35,000 midwives, and they lose fewer women and babies than we do.

Ina May Gaskin believes the reason lies in our past:

The United States has a peculiar history about childbirth. There is a higher level of fear of birth in this country than we see in so many cultures around the world. I think it has to do with our own peculiar history of absolutely destroying the profession of midwifery in the early twentieth century. When you destroy midwives, you also destroy a body of knowledge that is shared by women, that can’t be put together by a bunch of surgeons or a bunch of male obstetricians, because physiologically, birth doesn’t happen the same way around surgeons, medically trained doctors, as it does around sympathetic women.

Pain, endorphins, comfort techniques, water, doulas, epidurals: Orgasmic Birth views women’s options for labor and birth and examines the risks and benefits.

Dr. Northrup describes the power felt by a woman who has experienced a natural birth:

When women understand what’s available to us at birth, then we won’t ever give that over to an expert, the birth power, the orgasmic power that’s in our bodies. When you meet a woman who has had an ecstatic birth, you can’t talk her into taking drugs that aren’t good for her body. You can’t talk her into a hysterectomy that she doesn’t need. You can’t talk her into a crummy diet. She’s come home to her body. She knows what this body is capable of. She loves this body. This body loves her. And there’s nothing like the transformation available at birth to nail that in there in such a way that she becomes illuminated, because she’s a channel for life. And then she becomes a channel for life in all its forms.

Worldwide research supports the fact that the best, safest care for healthy full-term newborns is in their mothers’ arms, skin to skin, breastfeeding, feeling safe and nurtured.

Carrie Contey, PhD, a leader in the field of prenatal and perinatal psychology, says:

What we’re finding is that it does matter—it absolutely does matter—how somebody comes into the world. And it doesn’t mean all babies should be born this way or that way. It just means that we have to pay attention and recognize that those babies are having experiences. And the way that birth happens when it’s left to happen naturally, without drugs and without forceps, is really what the baby’s body is expecting. There’s a biological readying that’s happening. So it’s incredibly important that we start thinking about this time period in a new way, and we start caring for moms and babies and families around the birth experience in much more thoughtful and mindful ways than we are doing right now.

Orgasmic Birth encourages viewers examine their perceptions about childbirth and to consider issues that are crucial to the health and well-being of future generations.

The way a woman gives birth has the potential to change how she feels about herself forever.

The way she feels has consequences for how she mothers and cares for her baby. It has consequences for her other relationships and for society.

All babies deserve to be welcomed into their mothers’ arms with love and respect.
