On Tuesday 21st August 2001 two new crop formations were reported near Chilbolton radio telescope in Hampshire, UK. Both were very impressive looking and consisted of a large number of small 'pixels', which when viewed from the air formed a recognisable shape - unlike many other crop formations.

One represented a 'human face' and the other resembled a radio transmission that SETI (the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) sent from the Arecibo radio telescope in 1974.

After speaking to witnesses, it would appear that the 'Arecibo' formation was created on August 20th. Although I could roughly make out the binary pattern of the formation from aerial photographs, some aspects were not quite clear enough to discern individual 'digits'. Therefore I visited both formations myself (they were about 200m apart in the same field) on Saturday 25th August 2001.

~ Paul Vigay

The Arecibo message

First, I will give some background to the original message sent from Arecibo, back in 1974. Arecibo is on the northern coast of Puerto Rico and contains a natural disc-shaped hole in the rock. Inside this bowl was constructed the world's largest radio-telescope, with a diameter of 1000 feet. In 1974 a number of modifications had been carried out to the transmitter, enabling it to broadcast signals at a power of up to 20 terawatts (1 terawatt = 1 trillion watts) and as an inaugural test of these improvements it was decided by SETI to transmit an encoded message to the heavens. This signal was aimed towards the globular star cluster M13, some 25,000 light years away and consisting of some 300,000 stars in the constellation of Hercules.

Anything said about Pink Floyd falls short for words to express what their music does to you ! Journeying the sub-conscious self through space and time, creating images in the mind never seen before. Leading you slowly into a state of trance with mind expanding guitar playing laced with some hypnotic tunes on the keyboard by Richard Wright, Roger Waters ( Originally George Roger Waters ) & David Gilmour cast a magical spell on you with their intriguing voice and intense words from a different world ! Nick Mason does a stellar job on the drums maintaining the cohesion in sound Pink Floyd so wonderfully created together. While most Floydians believe their style to be Psychedelic, some also call it 'Space Music' . Their music transcends all genre classifications as they are truly the Masters of Psychedelia.

They were called The Meggadeaths, The T-Set (Tea Set) , Sigma 6, The Screaming Abdabs and then the Architectural Abdabs before they called themselves The Pink Floyd Sound which eventually became the legendary, PINK FLOYD. The name Pink Floyd comes from 2 famous Blues musicians from Georgia, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. Roger Syd Barrett (R.I.P) who was one of the founding members of the band got a lil' too spaced out in his adventures on LSD and lost his place in the band to a long time friend David Gilmour, so began the magic of Pink Floyd.

The Dark Side of the moon has sold over 35 million copies in the world making it the 3rd largest selling album after Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell and the monster album of all time, Thriller by Michael Jackson. Dark Side of the Moon marks the first time in Pink Floyd’s career when bassist Roger Waters wrote all of the album’s lyrics. "The concept was originally about the pressures of modern life - travel, money and so on," drummer Nick Mason says, "but then Roger turned it into a meditation on insanity." In a mental asylum under a prescribed dosage of psychedelics (then called drugs), Roger Waters was writing the words to Rock History's biggest album ever. Time, Money and Brain Damage are my favorite milestones on this journey to the dark side of the Moon ! Some also draw an uncanny similarity between the old classic The Wizard of Oz and The Dark Side of the Moon. When played in synchronous and by using a specific formula for playing both simultaneously, the audio-visual effect is rumored to create temporary insanity and a sort of malfunction in the thought process !

The next best seller by Floyd is The Wall, which is based on Roger's life also made into a movie later on with the help of friend, Alan Parker. Another excellent theme based album which creates a story as each song progresses. Another Brick in the Wall 2 was one of the most talked about songs of the 80's and still sounds as provocative and rebellious as it did then, questioning Educational ethics and the social system indirectly. The next big one from Floyd is Wish you were Here, creating super psychedelic mental imagery paying tribute to Syd Barrett who at that time was living in anonymity somewhere in London.

Among the earlier releases were The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, The Meddle, Ummagumma,
The Relics (Compilation), Atom Heart Mother and A Saucerful of Secrets. The Meddle in particular was a classic from Pink Floyd released in 1967. One of these days, Fearless and Echoes are masterpieces in their own right. Animals too was a good release, with classics like Sheep, Dogs and Pigs on the wing. The Final Cut was the last release which saw Roger Waters' name under the Pink Floyd flag following the ongoing ego clashes and constant disagreements with David Gilmour. Roger Waters and the Pink Floyd were the highlight of major drama, for Roger had copywrited most of the Floyd work under his name. For one, Pink Floyd couldn't have the huge inflated pig at their live shows since Roger objected to it. So they went on and inflated a pig with Balls to prove a point !

A momentary lapse of reason has been a forgotten album, however it does carry the Floydian feel to it. Learning to Fly, Turning Away and Sorrow stand out. Then came The Division Bell which shut up all critics with some timeless tracks like Coming back to life, Keep Talking, High Hopes and Take it Back. Pink Floyd came back with a bang and soon released a string of compilations like Pulse, Echoes Remastered, Is there anybody out there, and the most recent one Oh by the way. Touring world wide with the best light and sound you can imagine they brought back the Floydian Vibe to the electronic age. Pulse and Live at Berlin are some of their most remembered live acts. So far Roger Waters' solo expedition has been fairly good with the success of In the Flesh and Amused to Death. Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking and Radio K.A.O.S. weren't as appealing to the fans as Roger would've liked. David Gilmour's On an Island leads onto a spacious, sensuous journey but something or someone seems missing as per well acknowledged critics such as Rolling Stone. Pink Floyd did get together at the Gr8 Live Aid Concert setting aside all differences and recreating magic for a good cause. I hope they can get back together and stay that way leading us into different dimensions beyond space and time. Our lives have been irreversibly influenced by Pink Floyd and I'm glad I know Pink Floyd the way i do ! Pink Floyd shall remain unparalleled till the end of time. I hope they know what they achieved, as a team ! :)

24th December, 2007 ! We landed at the Dabolim Airport around 3 pm and headed off straight to Moira, Taryn's original home ! My in laws and their 3 dogs live in this old Portuguese bungalow they call Tristar ! Mama is usually busy in the kitchen or watching TV, in particular TBATB ! If not, you'd find her on the phone talking to her best friend, Aunty Anna for hours together ! Sure she'll "What Rubbish ?" it as exaggeration ! Dada is busy dealing with the nuances of the English language and shooting off to the Bar as and when required !The lush green background gives Tristar a very earthy village feel ! Time moves slow in Moira. You tend to get lost in the sounds of nature out there in the woods ! Fury, Smokie & Snow White, the 3 dogs at Tristar add on to the wilderness feel with their evident presence ! Fury Rodrigues is in charge here, no questions asked ! While Snow White has a persistent appetite for anything sweet, Smokie is constantly battling egos with Fury or doing his trot, prodding you to take him out for a walk !

The Christmas midnight mass at the Chapel was good ! The sandwiches, patties & the coffee were more than welcome post the sermons, short acts depicting virtuous living and high octave singing from the village ladies ! We woke up the next morning had an authentic Moira breakfast comprising of eggs, sausages, butter, cheese, the home delivered village bread and some left over Sorpotel which Taryn was primarily on while we were in Goa. I think this was the day after Christmas, please excuse my inability to recall timelines in Goa.

South Anjuna was as usual busy with party boppers moving in and out shuttling between various hangouts in and around Anjuna ! Shiva Valley, Curlies, 9 Bar, Prim Rose, Hilltop, Banyan Tree and Westend saw some big parties this season. The Psychedelic Goa Trance vibe was buzzing all around Anjuna !!! We caught some parties at Curlies and 9 Bar the first few days and then Shiva Valley happened on the 30th and then again on the 31st ! These guys at Shiva Valley got together some monster sound from Mapusa and some killer DJ's ... I think they were Karan, Sanjay Grover, Nigel ... The sound was nice and PHAT ! Dec 30th, 2006 Dolce Vita was one of the best times I've ever had in Goa ...

The grumpy old aunties at their Chai stalls were busy recycling tea leaves and threatening to hack anyone who steps on their mats inspite of repeated warnings. To be in their space means to keep them in business. Fair enough i guess, but the music does kinda get to the locals. Some get infuriated, some happily move along trying to get into the same effortless ecstasy they see everyone around in. The people started pouring in post midnight and the scene went from boom to supernova in a matter of minutes ! Twisted night time tunes from the likes of Kindzadza and Psykovsky thumped our audible consciousness till the first rays of the sun brought in some Full On Morning Magic ! The drunk vagabonds, the mentally flustered and the exhausted had long left for their cozy beds, now the colors began to show in my pristine Californian intervention !

The 1st of January, 2008 was beautiful and the Farmer's breakfast at Alcove ( Next to 9 Bar ) couldn't have tasted any better ! Vagator / Ozra were way less crowded a handful of old timers and some psychedelic happy people ! Some casual shopping from a bunch of well accented and persistent Indian hawker girls fetched us some nice bargains. The sea was nice and salty bringing in the occasional big wave throwing us off balance. A good hour in the water and the pangs of hunger got to us ! We satiated ourselves with some decent Prawn curry rice and crispy fried Kingfish washed down with some Banana Shake !

Our Goan getaway was a full on experience to recharge ourselves to face another eventful year whole heartedly ! All we are left with now are some good memories of the time we had and an uprising within to get back to Goa !

! Soglem Borem Ha ( Pronounced Sog-Ley Baw-Ray HA ~ HAHAHAHA ) :)

The Crabwood Alien face of August 15 was one of the most famous crop pictures in modern history, but no one could really understand its message. As shown in two pictures below, the schematic face of a "grey alien" was drawn within a large "rectangular box" that contained 60 horizontal lines, just as for an early "mechanical" TV image, chosen in the 1930's because we use 60 Hz AC power. The variable width of each line then creates different "grey scales" (modern TV screens use far more lines to give better pictures).

Next, that rectangular box with an alien face was carefully aligned so that it would point at two, nearby TV-radio towers. This was as if to say: "Yes, our new crop picture is really meant to represent the TV image of a grey alien." The general notion is that the Greys have made a secret pact with the US government where they are allowed to conduct experiments on humans in exchange of advanced technology. This is a part of the grand deception confusing the masses and dividing the fastly growing UFO community. There are no evil greys abducting innocent people for their own ulterior motives to populate their dying race in Zeta Reticuli, know this !

Believe there is good out there ... and within ..... ((( Love & Light )))

After graduating from Army School, Secunderabad, stepping into the war zone of confusing career options, I almost thought i was done with academic stress and identity crisis, now moving onto bigger challenges to accomplish certain goals in this race to the finish line. New doors opening into a whole new world of survival.

I was one of those guys who could deal with a lot of studying as long as they have all the possible options to a successful, accomplished life. So, i indulged in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & Biology till i could ! Now, i could be an Engineer or maybe a doctor since i did know a little about Biology and not because i saw myself helping people with bodily or even mental discomfort. I barely managed myself !

My father was an Army Officer and i always looked up to him for he was a man of immense strength and honor ! It was easier for me to visualize myself in the Olive Greens, following his lead and joining the forces . I did exactly that and a year later i was on my way to the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. I would've been the third generation alpha male from my family serving the Defence Services of India and i couldn't have been any happier.

All of this seemed to fit in just right as I'd imagined and now i needed to get through with 12 months of rigorous training in the Cold valley of Dehradun before i could proceed to the next level of training which would bring back academic chaos in my so far accomplished life. I like academics, helps improve your cognitive abilities. What i don't understand is the strict time lines drawn for EVERYONE to wallop big fat books written to bombard our mind with TOO MUCH INFORMATION, maybe too soon ! God knows how many of us are needed to build bridges and buildings or save people from the guns and bombs we make to uphold peace ! A little variety would go a long way.

" We need to think more creatively, don't ya think ? "

Among the distinguished 45 of the pioneers of the PCM technical course selected from across India, i boarded the train to New Delhi with a strong sense of pride of being in league with the OG Family. On reaching IMA we were greeted by a JUO ( Junior Under Officer ) who had been instructed to take charge of our arrival and help us with the joining formalities of the Academy. I had already begun to feel like an officer when it was suddenly taken away by well sequenced mind numbing sessions to help us all to get to the nothing state or the zero ego state. For the first 4 weeks we were acclimatizing ourselves to the coldness of the Academy with little or no view of the world outside. Soon, the outside world would seem like a desperate getaway from the pressures of being a Gentleman Cadet at IMA. For some even ridiculously unorganized and laid back. Yes, we are talking about the Adrenalin Junkies who have come to enjoy the physical anguish passed on as legacy by their seniors. FAT is resentful and you can be anything but FAT once you've walked through those gates.

It was time for all to start taking the pounding of a heavily beaten yet strong, sustained system of principles, ethics and moral values laced with some unimaginable hours of repetitive physical acrobatics. The experience takes away all that you were holding sacred in that cozy head of yours. Some give in and take all that comes with an open heart while some reason there way back home to Mama or whatever that keeps their minds and bodies from being hammered day in and day out. I was broken and pushed to the limit and soon i realized that there is no limit, it just gets better with time. So i stuck my head in with the herd and did whatever was to be done.

The running miles grew longer and the pain seemed to get smaller as the days rolled by. Early morning starts to late night snoozes it all seemed like one never ending exercise. There were no dreams no nightmares, just a few hours of complete shutdown of the mind and body system. I don't know what it felt like but i would've done more of it if i could. As the junior most of all the courses at the Academy, we were obliged to finish our morning chores by 4 am so the next course in seniority could make use of the time and lavatories, until it was time for the third termers to rise to the occassion. The twilight zone start to the day was nice in a way 'coz we got to lay our hands on some freshly baked cookies from the Battalion Bakery while sipping on some piping hot tea followed by a Wills Navy Cut cigarette to kick start the day's proceedings.

The usual day began with either Drill or PT after waking up to the Platoon JUO playing and screaming along his regular morning anthem from a recent Hindi movie. Certain privileges are well earned i suppose. I had never known how much heat our body can generate until i saw fumes rising from all our worn out bodies gleaming in the sunshine. So much for exercise and all the hungry feeding. Oxygen is the original high and after a point, you break all barriers inside your head. You can always go a little further than you think you can. You are so high on Oxygen all the time, that a little intoxication is almost justified. You might find an occasional drinker, but most just smoked cigarettes. It sure helped us calm down apart from all the excessive loving we administered ourselves with.

Once the 5 minute breakfasts were over, we had to cycle away to our classes in well formed squads of 4 or more. Too bad if your senior thinks he needs your bike more than you do, since his is under repair, faulty or even lost / lifted. You are allowed to march if only you are in a squad, else YOU RUN ! Tactics, Weapon Training, Service Writing, Night Navigation, Military History and a host of other subjects were on the periodic schedule. This was the time when you could catch some real quick naps while following the topic of discussion to the best of your sub-conscious awareness. Sometimes, these classes had the potential to turn into another rude awakening thanks to the majority who had not yet mastered the art of sleeping with the eyes wide open. Trust me, it's all possible !

It was the Wednesdays, Saturdays and the Sundays which used to bring a lot of color along with many pretty women into the Academy. The Cafeterias and almost all places in the Academy were brimming with life on half days and holidays. The phone booths were all queued with anxious cadets waiting to dial their loved ones. Some made most use of the free time relaxing back in their cabins sending out their jangoos (Slang for Juniors) to get them food like Butter Nans, Chicken Masala, Rajma, Samosas, Cola / Beverages to feast on. The jangoo didn't mind doing so coz' his dinner was also sorted by his big hearted over study.
All in all, a fair deal !

Life wasn't restricted to the confines of our Academy. There were many instances when we had to go out to nearby rural areas for camping exercises. Though we weren't amidst the buzz of the city life, the peaceful tranquility of the wild, beat all the living I'd ever known. The bright starry nights when we had to march for over 12 hours couldn't have been anymore enchanting and fun to say the least. Foot rot, Fatigue and the occasional homesickness were all forgotten in the company of our course mates. Walking through villages, wading through surprise flash floods, exchanging a randomly found Reynold's Jetter Pen for half a pack of Wills at a local pan shop is a whole lotta fun filled adventure one can only imagine now. The occasional break outs of aggression within the team added on to the fun quotient. A few punches, followed by a nasty headlock is how fights would normally end. It was all forgotten the next day as good sense returned to most involved. Some just carry on with a grudge in their hearts hoping to settle scores when the next one happens. Normally, one backs down for the best interest of the group. Call him the sensible one, but it certainly wasn't me. I was always ready to fight given a reason good enough. All anger and frustration vented out in a fair fight with both parties game, may sound like anarchy to you, to me it was like taking a hot water shower on a cold frosty morning !

The year 2000 brought about a whole lotta change in my life. Personal grievances and low motivation took the best out of me. It all started slipping away slowly and i was 4 days short of my passing out parade when i was relegated. I trudged along for a month after all my course mates had passed out except for another friend / course mate who temporarily lost his eye sight thanks to an injury he sustained while playing Hockey for his Company and was sent home packing, no questions asked ! Doesn't seem fair ? Maybe ! However, he is now an Actuary in London and doing well for himself, while i have all the time in world to cut a long story short... while i keep filling in the spaces as and when memory and intention coincide...

I was withdrawn on disciplinary ground after 13 months in IMA for my prolonged defiance to attend training which lasted almost a month. I was counseled however, i had no will to carry on disillusioned with the politics of the organization, so they had no option left but to throw me out. It's been a different story ever since and though i never got to wear the OG's i will always live by the Code.

"Status Quo : In The Army Now"

Someday we will need no armies to protect us from ourselves and the world will truly know Peace !

Questions and complexities beyond rational humane comprehension, certain, staring right in your face ironies and some social obligations to live up to. The all playing mind in seek of something that shall last going around in circles. Infinite number of possible things to do, yet unable to figure out WHY ?

Why life ? Why creation ? Why every little thing you can think of ? What is Lifelessness ? Is there a consciousness beyond physical life ? A memory of all that is connected with the I called me on a different plane of existence, an independently operating system with no form no outline no real purpose ? Timeless existence ?

Or maybe i stop asking and let things happen since i have little or no control over my destiny ? Maybe it's all about choices and dreaming !!! What would you do ? Would you rather sugar talk a population or piss people off ? Your intention could've been anything but it's nothing compared to the potential of human interpretation on a big measuring scale ! 1 cause : Infinite possible effects all existing in each pulsating singular consciousness ! That makes our system look like a colony of microscopic mycelia living and dying endlessly for billions of years.

It's got to be better than this ! Guess we got lucky with the onset of life almost accidentally following a cataclysmic cosmic explosion or is it the master minded design of the ultimate architect which we are all trying to figure out, in vain. I don't have an answer just some popular beliefs I'm inclined to agree with, thrust on me by the history of our world laced with secrets and half told truths. I hope you think otherwise coz' affirmation of the truth sets your spirits in blissful paradise you would never return from ! I just hope the affirmation lasts !

We are all unconsciously marching on towards the end ... the end of all ends ...
It has to end, so something new, something better, something stronger can rise ! I can't say how long it's gonna last, but it's upto you to make it one helluva ride !

Take different roads to reach a common place called nothingness !

Coz' in the end, nothing really matters !

Transformers is more than science fiction like most of the movies we've seen in the Sci-Fi genre which in actuality are more science fact, unknown, unbelievable to most. While the machines and the futuristic robots bring in all the super slick mechanical action between opposing forces of Good & Evil, symbolized by the Autobots who are here to protect Humanity unlike the Decepticons who are in search of 'The Allspark' and would destroy Earth & Humanity to get it. The conflict between the Autobots & the Decepticons affect humanity much like our own psychic wars going on in higher realms which consciousness inhabits. The demons within are let out and the perpetual dualistic conflict is transcended with the Autobots sustaining over the Decepticons and they indeed are destroyed until they make their return in the summer of 2009 with Transformers 2 !

Here is the Plot Summary as seen on IMDB ... A long time ago, far away on the planet of Cybertron, a war was being waged between the noble Autobots (led by the wise Optimus Prime) and the devious Decepticons (commanded by the dreaded Megatron) for control over the Allspark, a mystical talisman that would grant unlimited power to whoever possessed it. The Autobots managed to smuggle the Allspark off the planet, but Megatron blasted off in search of it. He eventually tracked it to the planet of Earth (circa 1850), but his reckless desire for power sent him right into the Arctic Ocean, and the sheer cold forced him into a paralyzed state. His body was later found by Captain Archibald Witwicky, and before going into a comatose state Megatron used the last of his energy to engrave a map, showing the location of the Allspark, into the Captain's glasses, and send a transmission to Cybertron. He is then carted away by the Captain's ship. A century later, Sam Witwicky, nicknamed Spike by his friends, buys his first car. To his shock, he discovers it to be Bumblebee, an Autobot in disguise who is to protect Spike, as he bears the Captain's glasses and the map carved on them. But Bumblebee is not the only Transformer to have arrived on Earth - in the desert of Qatar, the Decepticons Blackout and Scorponok attack a U.S. military base, causing the Pentagon to send their special Sector Seven agents to capture all "specimens of this alien race," and Spike and his girlfriend Mikaela find themselves in the middle of a grand battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, stretching from Hoover Dam all the way to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, within the depths of Hoover Dam, the cryogenically stored form of Megatron awakens ...
