"Indigo Children" is the name given to a very special group of beings who have chosen to incarnate on our planet with a specific mission and purpose.

The name "Indigo Child" refers to the soul color of Indigo, which indicates a Master Soul who serves as a teacher or healer. Every Indigo Child will undertake this mission of teaching or healing in some way, often merely by being who he or she is.

Indigos have been coming to our planet for a long time. Some argue that Jesus and Buddha were Indigos, since their mission, on a global scale, was to teach and heal, and to shift the consciousness of humanity.

In the recent past, Indigos began to incarnate on the planet in increasing numbers after World War II, in preparation for the global shift that we are now experiencing. They incarnated among the "baby boom" generation of the fifties and were born to the "flower children" of the sixties. However, at this stage there was not a sufficient number of them on the planet to create significant changes.

Then, in the 1970s, the first generational "wave" of Indigo Children arrived. These beings are now in their late twenties and early thirties, and are the real "warrior" generation who have begun the process of challenging and shifting old systems.

They were followed in the eighties and nineties by Indigos of increasing sensitivity and refinement, until the late 1990s and early 2000s when they were joined by the Crystal Children, a different kind of spiritual warrior.

How to Recognize an Indigo

I am often asked in the course of my work how to recognize an Indigo.

The obvious answer would be to check the aura color. But no, not all Indigos have dark blue auras all the time. The term "Indigo" refers to a soul state and not to an aura color, which in the average human changes from day to day depending on mood and interest. Clairvoyants who read soul states may be able to identify Indigos.

However, it is easy to identify an Indigo by their sensitivity, creativity, spirituality and general behavioral patterns.

As children, they look much like other children, although they are often physically beautiful with penetrating eyes. They are always highly intelligent and full of questions and demands. They are energetic and active and have strong wills and a strong sense of their own value and importance. They know that they are special and that they are here to do something significant.

They are right-brain oriented, and are generally attracted to right-brain pursuits such as music, art, writing and spirituality. They love crystals and reiki and meditation and yoga.

They are very passionate and intensely loyal to their friends, of whom they often have many. They believe in honesty and communication in relationships. They are often baffled by dishonesty and manipulation and other forms of selfish behavior deemed normal by their elders.

Their attitude towards money is either to reject it as unnecessary or to be very aware of its power and to seek, often successfully, to create affluence for themselves.

A key feature of Indigos is often anger. They will not be ordered around by so-called "authority figures". On a deep level, Indigos do not recognize "authority". They know we are all equal, and so they are enraged by those who assume authority and behave dictatorially, whether they are parents, teachers or bosses.

This is where they are important as teachers - they are teaching us to own our own power and to respect ourselves, by not giving away our power to those who demand it.

They are teaching us further to value our creative and spiritual selves and not to place so much value on material success.

If you feel you resonate with some of the things said above, chances are bright you are an Indigo too ... just like many of us here, trying to find the others .... and boy, we have found others just like you and me .... going through similar challenges in life .... and all we need to do is remember who we really are ... and keep shining ......

We came across an interesting article on some of the challenges some of us Indigos face on Earth School .... :)

Indigo Children: Symptoms Of Spiritual Awakening by Annarita

Symptoms of Spiritual Awakening by Annarita

1 Changing sleep patterns: restlessness, hot feet, waking up two or three times a night. Feeling tired after you wake up and sleepy off and on during the day. There is something called the Triad Sleep Pattern that occurs for many: you sleep for about 2-3 hours, wake up, go back to sleep for another couple of hours, wake again, and go back to sleep again. For others, the sleep requirements have changed. You can get by on less sleep. Lately I have been experiencing huge waves of energy running into my body from the crown. It feels good, but it keeps me awake for a long time, then subsides. Advice: Get used to it. Make peace with it and don't worry about getting enough sleep (which often causes more insomnia). You will be able to make it through the day if you hold thoughts of getting just what you need. You can also request your Higher Power to give you a break now and then and give you a good, deep night's sleep. If you can't go back to sleep right away, use the waking moments to meditate, read poetry, write in your journal or look at the moon. Your body will adjust to the new pattern.

2 Activity at the crown of the head: Tingling, itching, prickly, crawling sensations along the scalp and/or down the spine. A sense of energy vibrating on top of the head, as if energy is erupting from the head in a shower. Also the sensation of energy pouring in through the crown, described as "sprinkles". This may also be experienced as pressure on the crown, as if someone is pushing his/her finger into the center of your head. As I mentioned in #1, I have been experiencing huge downloads of energy through the crown. In the past, I have felt more generalized pressure, as if my head is in a gentle vise. One man related that his hair stood on end and his body was covered with goosebumps. Advice: This is nothing to be alarmed about. What you are experiencing is an opening of the crown chakra. The sensations mean that you are opening up to receive divine energy.

3 Sudden waves of emotion. Crying at the drop of a hat. Feeling suddenly angry or sad with little provocation. Or inexplicably depressed. Then very happy. Emotional roller coaster. There is often a pressure or sense of emotions congested in the heart chakra (the middle of the chest). This is not to be confused with the heart, which is located to the left of the heart chakra. Advice: Accept your feelings as they come up and let them go. Go directly to your heart chakra and feel the emotion. Expand it outward to your all your fields and breathe deeply from the belly all the way up to your upper chest. Just feel the feeling and let it evaporate on its own. Don't direct the emotions at anyone. You are cleaning out your past. If you want some help with this, say out loud that you intend to release all these old issues and ask your Higher Power to help you. You can also ask Grace Elohim to help you release with ease and gentleness. Be grateful that your body is releasing these emotions and not holding onto them inside where they can do harm. One source suggests that depression is linked to letting go of relationships to people, work, etc. that no longer match us and our frequencies. When we feel guilty about letting go of these relationships, depression helps us medicate that pain.

4 Old "stuff" seems to be coming up, as described above, and the people with whom you need to work it out (or their clones) appear in your life. Completion issues. Or perhaps you need to work through issues of self-worth, abundance, creativity, addictions, etc. The resources or people you need to help you move through these issues start to appear. Advice: Same as #3. Additionally, don't get too involved in analyzing these issues. Examining them too much will simply cycle you back through them over and over again at deeper and deeper levels. Get professional help if you need to and walk through it. Do not try to avoid them or disassociate yourself from them. Embrace whatever comes up and thank it for helping you move ahead. Thank your Higher Power for giving you the opportunity to release these issues. Remember, you don't want these issues to stay stuck in your body.

5 Changes in weight. The weight gain in the US population is phenomenal. Other people may be losing weight. We often gain weight because many fears we have suppressed are now coming up to the surface to be healed. We react by building up a defense. We also attempt to ground ourselves or provide bulk against increasing frequencies in our bodies. Advice: Don't freak out, but just accept it as a symptom of where you are right now. You will release/gain the weight when all your fears have been integrated. Release your anxiety about this. Then you might find it easier to lose/gain the weight eventually. Exercise. Before eating, try this: Sit at the table with an attractive place setting. Light a candle. Enjoy how the food looks. Place your dominant hand over your heart and bless the food. Tell your body that you are going to use the food to richly nourish it, but that you are not going to use the food to fulfill your emotional hungers. Then pass your hand from left to right over the food and bless it. You may notice that the food feels warm to your hand even if the food is cold-- I like to think that the food is good for me when it feels warm and nourishing to my hand. I have also noticed that when I practice blessing the food, I don't eat as much. It is important not to let yourself off the hook when you forget to bless the food before you eat. If I've forgotten and I've nearly finished eating, I bless the food anyway. That way I don't slip out of the habit. Another thing you can do is to stay present while eating -- don't watch TV or read. Heartily enjoy what blessings are before you.

6 Changes in eating habits: Strange cravings and odd food choices. Some find they are not as hungry as they used to be. Or hungrier. Advice: Don't deny what your body tells you it needs. If you are not sure, you might try muscle-testing before you chose a food to see if it's what your body wants. Also try blessing the food as described in #5.

7 Food intolerances, allergies you never had before: As you grow more spiritual, you are more sensitive to everything around you. Your body will tell you what it can no longer tolerate, as if it, too, is sloughing off what doesn't serve it anymore. You might be cleansing yourself of toxins. Some people find they often have a white residue in their mouth, much like that of runners at the end of a race. Advice: An acupuncturist told me that this film can be removed by sloshing 2 tablespoons of cold-pressed olive oil in your mouth for 10-15 minutes (don't swallow, whatever you do), then spitting it out into the toilet -- not the sink, for you just removed toxins from your body and don't want them in the sink. Brush your teeth and do the same. Then clean your brush. (Sorry this is yukky, but it works.)

8 Amplification of the senses. Increased sensitivity. 8a. Sight: Blurry vision, shimmering objects, seeing glittery particles, auras around people, plants, animals, and objects. Some report seeing formerly opaque objects as transparent. When you close your eyes, you no longer see darkness, but redness. You may also see geometric shapes or brilliant colors and pictures when eyes are closed. Colors appear more vivid -- the sky might look teal or the grass an amazing green. Often I see grids running across the ground. As you become more sensitive, you may see shapes or outlines in the air, especially when the room is almost dark. When your eyes are open or closed, you may see white shapes in your peripheral vision (these are your guides). Advice: Your vision is changing in many ways -- you are experiencing new ways of seeing. Be patient. Whatever you do, do not be afraid. Hazy vision maybe relieved by yawning. 8b. Hearing: Increased or decreased hearing. I once thought I would have to pull off the road because of the painfully amplified sound of my tires on the freeway. Other symptoms are hearing white noise in the head, beeps, tones, music or electronic patterns. Some hear water rushing, bees buzzing, whooshing, roaring or ringing. Others have what is called audio dyslexia-- you can't always make out what people are saying, as if you can no longer translate your own language. Some hear strange voices in their dreams, as if someone is hovering near them. You can either ask the presence(s) to leave or ask Archangel Michael to take care of the situation. Again, there is nothing to fear. Advice: Surrender to it. Let it come through. Listen. Your ears are adjusting to new frequencies. 8c. Enhanced senses of smell, touch, and/or taste. I notice I can now smell and taste chemical additives in some foods in a rather unpleasant manner. Other food may taste absolutely wonderful. For some people, these enhancements are both delightful and distracting. You might even smell the fragrance of flowers now and then. Many of the mystics did. Enjoy it.

9 Skin eruptions: Rashes, bumps, acne, hives, and shingles. Anger produces outbreaks around the mouth and chin. I had a dermatitis on my extremities for several months that accompanied healing an episode from my past. When I had worked through most of the issue, the condition was released. Advice: You may be sloughing off toxins and bringing emotions to the surface. When there is an issue to be released and you are trying to repress it, your skin will express the issue for you until you process the emotions. Work through your "stuff".

10 Episodes of intense energy which make you want to leap out of bed and into action. Followed by periods of lethargy and fatigue. The fatigue usually follows great shifts. This is a time of integration, so give into it. Advice: Roll with the nature of the energy. Don't fight it. Be gentle with yourself. Take naps if you are tired. Write your novel if you are too energized to sleep. Take advantage of the type of energy.

11 Changes in prayer or meditation. Not feeling the same sensations as before. Not having the same experience of being in contact with Spirit. Difficulty in focusing. Advice: You may be in more instant and constant communion with Spirit now and the sensation may therefore be altered. You will adapt to this new feeling. You are actually thinking and acting in partnership with Spirit most of the time now. You may find your meditation periods shorter.

12 Power surges: All of a sudden you are heated from head to toe. It is a momentary sensation, but uncomfortable. In contrast, some people have felt inexplicably cold. I have experienced both. More recently I experience waves or currents of energy rolling through me. Sometimes the energy seems so intense when it first comes into my body that I feel a little nauseated. But if I think of the energy as divine and let go of fear, I feel wonderful and enjoy the sensation. If you are an energy worker, you may have noticed that the heat running through your hands has increased tremendously. This is good. Advice: If you are uncomfortable, ask your Higher Power, that if it be for your best and highest good, to turn down/up the temperature a bit.

13 A range of physical manifestations: Headaches, backaches, neck pains, flu-like symptoms (this is called vibrational flu), digestive problems, muscular spasms or cramps, racing heartbeat, chest pains, changes in sexual desire, numbness or pain in the limbs, and involuntary vocalizations or bodily movements. Some of us have even had old conditions from childhood reappear briefly for healing. Advice: Remember what I said about seeking medical help if you need it! If you have determined that this is not a medical condition, relax in the realization that it is only temporary.

14 Looking younger. Yippee! As you clear emotional issues and release limiting beliefs and heavy baggage from the past, you are actually lighter. Your frequency is higher. You love yourself and life more. You begin to resemble the perfect you that you really are.

15 Vivid dreams. Sometimes the dreams are so real that you wake up confused. You may even have lucid dreams in which you are in control. Many dreams may be mystical or carry messages for you. And in some dreams, you just know that you are not "dreaming" -- that what is happening is somehow real. Advice: You will remember what is important for you to remember. Don't force anything. Above all, stay out of fear.

16 Events that completely alter your life: death, divorce, change in job status, loss of home, illness, and/or other catastrophes -- sometimes several at once! Forces that cause you to slow down, simplify, change, re-examine who you are and what your life means to you. Forces that you cannot ignore. Forces that cause you release your attachments. Forces that awaken your sense of love and compassion for all.

17 A desire to break free from restrictive patterns, life-draining jobs consumptive lifestyles, and toxic people or situations. You feel a compelling need to "find yourself" and your life purpose -- now! You want to be creative and free to be who you really are. You might find yourself drawn to the arts and nature. You want to unclutter yourself from things and people that no longer serve you. Advice: Do it!

18 Emotional and mental confusion: A feeling that you need to get your life straightened out--it feels like a mess. But at the same time you feel chaotic and unable to focus. See #45. Advice: Put your ear to your heart and your own discernment will follow.

19 Introspection, solitude and loss of interest in more extroverted activities: This stage has come as a surprise to many extroverts who formerly saw themselves as outgoing and involved. They say, "I don't know why, but I don't like to go out as much as before."

20 Creativity bursts: Receiving images, ideas, music, and other creative inspirations at an often overwhelming rate. Advice: At least record these inspirations, for Spirit is speaking to you about how you might fulfill your purpose and contribute to the healing of the planet.

21 A perception that time is accelerating. It seems that way because you have had so many changes introduced into your life at an unprecedented rate. The number of changes seems to be growing. Advice: Breaking your day up into appointments and time segments increases the sense of acceleration .You can slow time down by relaxing into the present moment and paying attention to what's at hand, not anticipating what's ahead. Slow down and tell yourself that you have plenty of time. Ask your Higher Power to help you. Keep your focus on the present. Try to flow from one activity to the next. Stay tuned to your inner guidance. You can also warp time by asking for it. Next time you feel rushed, say, "Time warp, please. I need some more time to -----." Then relax.

22 A sense of impendingness. There is a feeling that something is about to happen. This can create anxiety. Advice: There is nothing to worry about. Things are definitely happening, but anxiety only creates more problems for you. All your thoughts -- positive or negative-- are prayers. There is nothing to fear.

23 Impatience. You know better, but sometimes you can't help it. You want to get on with what seems to be coming your way. Uncertainty is not comfortable. Advice: Learn to live with the uncertainty, knowing that nothing comes to you until you are ready. Impatience is really a lack of trust, especially trust in your Higher Power. When you focus on the present, you will experience miracles -- yes, even in traffic.

24 A deep yearning for meaning, purpose, spiritual connection, and revelation. Perhaps an interest in the spiritual for the first time in your life. "Constant craving", as k.d. lang says. The material world cannot fulfill this longing. Advice: Follow your heart and the way will open up for you.

25 A feeling that you are somehow different. A disquieting sense that everything in your life feels new and altered, that you have left your old self behind. You have. You are much greater than you can possibly imagine. There is more to come.

26 "Teachers" appear everywhere with perfect timing to help you on your spiritual journey: people, books, movies, events, Mother Nature, etc. Teachers may appear to be negative or positive when you are trapped in polarity thinking, but, from a transcendent perspective, they are always perfect. Just what you need to learn from and move on. By the way, we never get more than we are ready to master. Each challenge presents us with an opportunity to show our mastery in passing through it.

27 You find a spiritual track that makes sense to you and "speaks to you" at the most profound levels. Suddenly you are gaining a perspective that you would never have considered before. You hunger to know more. You read, share with others, ask questions, and go inside to discover more about who you are and why you are here

28 You are moving through learning and personal issues at a rapid pace. You sense that you are "getting it" quite readily. Advice: Keep remembering that things will come to you when they are ready to be healed. Not sooner. Deal with whatever comes up with courage and you will move through the issues rapidly.

29 Invisible presences. Here is the woo-woo stuff. Some people report feeling surrounded by beings at night or having the sensation of being touched or talked to. Often they will wake with a start. Some also feel their body orbed vibrate. The vibrations are caused by energetic changes after emotional clearing has taken place. Advice: This is a sensitive topic, but you may feel better blessing your bed and space around it before you sleep. I rest assured that I am surrounded only by the most magnificent spiritual entities and am always safe in God's care. Sometimes, however, the fear gets to me, and I call in Archangel Michael and/or Archangel Uriel. I don't beat myself up for being afraid sometimes. I forgive myself for not always sovereign at 3:00 a.m.

30 Portents, visions, "illusions", numbers, and symbols: Seeing things that have spiritual importance for you. Noticing how numbers appear synchronistically in your awareness. Everything has a message if you take the time to look. I enjoy the experience of "getting the messages." What fun!

31 Increased integrity: You realize that it is time for you to seek and speak your truth. It suddenly seems important for you to become more authentic, more yourself. You may have to say "no" to people whom you have tried to please in the past. You may find it intolerable to stay in a marriage or job or place that doesn't support who you are. You may also find there is nowhere to hide, no secrets to keep anymore. Honesty becomes important in all your relationships. Advice: Listen to your heart. If your guidance tells you not to do something, speak up and take action. Say "no". Likewise, you must also say "yes" to that which compels you. You must risk displeasing others without guilt in order to attain spiritual sovereignty.

32 Harmony with seasons and cycles: You are becoming more tuned to the seasons, the phases of the moon and natural cycles. More awareness of your place in the natural world. A stronger connection to the earth.

33 Electrical and mechanical malfunctions: When you are around, lightbulbs flicker, the computer locks up, or the radio goes haywire. Advice: Call on your angels, guides, or Grace Elohim to fix it or put up a field of protection of light around the machine. Surround your car with bluelight. Laugh.

34 Increased synchronicity and many small miracles. Look for more of these. Advice: Synchronistic events tell you if you are heading in the right direction or making the correct choices. Honor these clues and you cannot go astray. Spirit uses synchronicity to communicate to you. That's when you begin to experience daily miracles. See #30.

35 Increased intuitive abilities and altered states of consciousness: Thinking of someone and immediately hearing from them. More synchronicities. Having sudden insights about patterns or events from the past. Clairvoyance, out-of-body experiences, and other psychic phenomena. Intensified sensitivity and knowing. Awareness of one's essence and that of others. Channeling angelic and Christ-consciousness energies.

36 Communication with Spirit. Contact with angels, spirit guides, and other divine entities. Channeling. More and more people seem to be given this opportunity. Feeling inspiration and downloading information that takes form as writing, painting, ideas, communications, dance, etc.

37 A sense of Oneness with all. A direct experience of this Wholeness. Transcendent awareness. Being flooded with compassion and love for all life. Compassionate detachment or unconditional love for all is what lifts us up to higher levels of consciousness and joy.

38 Moments of joy and bliss. A deep abiding sense of peace and knowing that you are never alone.

39 Integration: You become emotionally, psychologically, physically, and spiritually stronger and clearer. You feel as if you are in alignment with your Higher Self.

40 Living your purpose: You know you are finally doing what you came to earth for. New skills and gifts are emerging, especially healing ones. Your life/work experiences are now converging and starting to make sense. You are finally going to use them all. Advice: Listen to your heart. Your passion leads you to where you must go. Go within and ask your Higher Power, "What is it you would have me do?" Watch for synchronicities. Listen.

41 Feeling closer to animals and plants. To some people, animals now seem to be more "human" in their behavior. Wild animals are less afraid. Plants respond to your love and attention more than ever. Some may even have messages for you.

42 Seeing beings of other dimensions. The veil between dimensions is thinner, so it is not surprising. Just stay in your sovereignty. You are more powerful than you can ever imagine, so do not entertain fear. Ask your guides for help if you slip into fear.

43 Seeing a person's true form or seeing loved ones with a different face -- past life or parallel life.

44 Physically manifesting thoughts and desires more quickly and efficiently. Advice: Monitor your thoughts. All thoughts are prayers. Be careful what you ask for.

45 Left -brain fogginess. Your psychic abilities, your intuitive knowing, your feeling and compassion, your ability to experience your body, your visioning, your expressiveness all emanate from the right brain. In order for this side of the brain to develop more fully, the left brain must shut down a little bit. Normally the left-hemisphere's capacity for order, organization, structure, linear sequencing, analysis, evaluation, precision, focus, problem-solving, and mathematics dominate our often less-valued right brain. What results are memory lapses, placing words in the wrong sequence, inability or no desire to read for very long, inability to focus; forgetting what you are just about to say; impatience with linear forms of communication (audio or written formats); a feeling of spaciness, being scattered; losing interesting research or complex information; feeling bombarded with words and talk and information; and a reluctance to write. Sometimes you feel dull and have no interest in analysis, lively intellectual discussion, or investigation. On the other hand, you might find yourself drawn to the sensate: videos, magazines with photos, beautiful artwork, movies, music, sculpting, painting, being with people, dancing, gardening, walking, and other kinesthetic forms of expression. You may search for spiritual content, even science fiction. Advice: You may discover that if you allow your heart and your right brain to lead you, the left will then be activated appropriately to support you. And someday we will be well-balanced, using both hemispheres with mastery.

46 Dizziness. This occurs when you are ungrounded. Perhaps you have just cleared a big emotional issue and your body is adjusting to your "lighter" state. Advice: Ground yourself by eating protein. Sometimes "comfort food" feels right. Don't make any food right or wrong for you. Use your guidance to know what you need at any given moment. Take your shoes off and put your feet in the grass for a couple of minutes.

47 Falling, having accidents, breaking bones. Your body is not grounded or perhaps your life is out of balance. Or your body may be telling you to slow down, examine certain aspects of your life, or heal certain issues. There is always a message. When I recently broke my ankle, I understand that my ankle was taking on what I myself refused to deal with. And that was all of the above. Advice: Stay grounded by taking your shoes off and putting your feet in the grass; even better, lie down on the grass without a blanket under you. Feel the earth beneath you. Get out in nature. Slow down and pay attention. Be mindful about what you are doing. Feel your feelings when they come up. Stay in the present. Surround yourself with blue light when you are feeling shaky.

48 Heart palpitations. A racing heart usually accompanies a heart opening. It only lasts for a few moments and means that the heart is re-balancing itself after an emotional release. I had one episode that terrified me: I woke up in the middle of the night, my heart pounding. I thought it was going to come right out of my chest. It only happened once and was, I understand, a huge heart-chakra opening. But I did check it out. There is nothing wrong with my heart. Advice: Remember what I said about getting medical attention when needed. Consult your doctor about any conditions you are not comfortable with.

49 Faster hair and nail growth. More protein is being used in the body. Too bad we can't tell the body where to grow the hair and where not to grow it. (Or can we? Hmmm.)

50 A desire to find your soulmate or twin flame. More than ever before, the idea that we can have a relationship that matches who we are seems more desirable. Advice: The truth is, we have to be the kind of person we want to attract. We have to love ourselves and where we are right now before we can attract a more "perfect" mate. The work begins at home. Here is how I think it works: Hold the desire for this person in your heart, but without attachment. Expect that someday you will meet someone who is more suited to you, but let go of any expectations as to who this will be and how it will happen. Focus instead on cleaning up your own life and being the kind of person you want to be. Be happy now. Enjoy your life. Then you may see.....

51 Memories surface. Body memories, suppressed memories, images of past lives and/or parallel lives. We are healing and integrating all our "selves", so expect to have some of these experiences. Advice. Keep in mind that it is best to recall what only what comes to mind, leave the rest alone, don't analyze everything to death (because you will be stuck in the tape loop of infinite issues to process), and feel your feelings as they come up. Ask for help from your guides.

India seems to be making some serious head way to legalize Cannabis in a country which has always revered the sacred plant for its spiritual and medicinal qualities.

Advocate Aditya Barthakur has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Bombay high court challenging the criminalisation of cannabis under Indian law, based on the fact that none of six government organs he queried had any idea about how the herb is harmful to the human body.

The high court has issued notices to the central and state governments, reported the Express.

Barthakur last year filed a Right to Information (RTI) request seeking medical or scientific reasons for how the consumption of Cannabis in any form is harmful to humans.

He filed this request first with the ministry of health and family welfare from where it traveled, through transfer by the department, to the department of health research, the Indian Council of Medical Research and finally to the national institute of nutrition which replied to Barthakur with an excerpt, allegedly, copy-pasted from the website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of New Jersey.

Barthakur then filed an RTI with the same query with the legislative department of the law ministry, which transferred it to the department of revenue which replied to Barthakur with the word "NIL".

Barthakur also filed an RTI on the same query with the Law Commission of India next, which transferred it to the ministry of health and family welfare from where it once again followed the same transfer route as before, until it landed with the home ministry which forwarded it to one of its divisions (an "IS-II division").

Barthakur also filed the same RTI with the Central Bureau of Narcotics, adding in it the further query that what is the basis of the law prohibiting Cannabis under the NDPS Act 1985 if there are no medical or scientific reasons as were asked for. The Bureau replied to him with a reproduction of the NDPS Act provisions criminalising Cannabis.

He then filed the criminal writ petition making all the queried government organs respondents along with the union of India and the state of Maharashtra. In the writ petition Bathakur produces research, such as British Commission reports containing mythological texts which note the medical and other benefits of the Cannabis plant, including curing cancer.

The 34-year-old lawyer, who is appearing in person in the writ petition, concluded it with an Atharvaveda Sloka:

To the five kingdoms of the plants which Soma rules as Lordwe speak.Darbha, hemp, barley, mighty power: may these deliver us from woe.

He prayed in his petition:

The Hon’ble Court be pleased to declare, the defining and penal provisions, in relation to Cannabis, of The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and inclusion of Cannabis in Schedule I, Entry (2) of The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and inclusion of Cannabis at Sl. No. 23 in Notification Specifying Small Quantity and Commercial Quantity, dated 19.10.2001, published in the Gazette of India, for the purposes of Section 2 (viia) and 2 (xxiiia) of The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and, inclusion of Cannabis in National Policy on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, as being, unjust, and, ultra vires, the provisions of Constitution of India, 1950, and

The Hon’ble Court be pleased to direct, the defining and penal provisions, in relation to Cannabis, of The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and inclusion of Cannabis in Schedule I, Entry (2) of The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and 1985, and inclusion of Cannabis at Sl. No. 23 in Notification Specifying Small Quantity and Commercial Quantity, dated 19.10.2001, published in the Gazette of India, for the purposes of Section 2 (viia) and 2 (xxiiia) of The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and, inclusion of Cannabis in National Policy on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, be suitably amended for being, unjust, and, ultra vires, the provisions of Constitution of India, 1950, and,

That as an interim relief the operation of every provision in relation to Cannabis in The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and Notification Specifying Small Quantity and Commercial Quantity, dated 19.10.2001, contravention of which is a unjustified penal offence, be suspended until the final hearing and disposal of this Public Interest Litigation

Cannabis currently occupies an uncertain position under Indian criminal law, which allows certain forms of it to be consumed, also during religious festivals such as Holi.

For the first time since Cannabis was made illegal in 1985, people in India are waking up to the truth about this great plant and its medicinal and therapeutic potential and coming together to ask our senile government why is Cannabis still illegal in India while many countries across the world and about 20 states in the US have either fully or partially legalized Cannabis or at least decriminalized the use of it, treating it more like a health issue based on personal choice rather treating it like a crime.

It was a great honor to be at the 1st conference on Cannabis Legalization in India, however it would have never come to this in the first place if it weren't for a few greedy people who keep their own interests before the health and well being of us people who are forced to buy into inane, nonsensical law we never agreed to in the first place.

The conference kicked off with Viki Vaurora who leads 'The Great Legalization Movement of India' presenting the case for Cannabis legalization in India. He discussed the rich history of Cannabis in India, quoting the Vedas and other ancient Indian texts and scriptures.

The conference room at the venue, Alliance Francais, Bangalore was packed with Cannabis enthusiasts from all walks of life. It was heart warming to see people speak their truth and how Cannabis has affected them positively even when used just as a dietary supplement included in salads and other delicious recipes. There were people supporting the use of Hemp based products, people who knew certain loopholes in the law and how we could get a licence from the Excise Commission of India .. within some section called L6 or something which a gentleman called Shekhar from the audience brought out.

Rick Simpson, the man who cured himself from Cancer using Cannabis oil after doctors gave up on him was the next to speak after Viki had introduced the audience to the agenda of the conference. He shared many examples of how Cannabis oil has helped many folks combat serious ailments without having to go through the horrors of our modern medical industry.

There was a couple from Bangalore whose child had suffered from seizures due to a bad vaccine reaction and his health started to deteriorate rapidly. After going from pillar to post all around Bangalore asking the top most Neurosurgeons what could be done to get their boy back, they reached no answers. After a while they came across Cannabis Oil as a potential cure for his seizures which was also shown in a separate video at the conference describing the case of a young girl suffering from seizures who responded really well to Cannabis Oil and started to show signs of improvement.

Someone from the audience said they recently read an article in the newspaper (Bangalore) about how it is legal to grow Cannabis plants at home until they reach the stage when seeds start to form and buds begin to appear on the plant. The same person who shared this story at the conference happens to be a grandmother of 6, also uses Cannabis leaves in her Salads on a regular basis.

Viki Vaurora, the man behind The Great Legalization Movement of India spoke to the audience straight from the heart, as it is without any inhibition at all ... sharing the truth as he knows it. His responses to some of the questions from the audience during the Q & A session were applauded by all the 200 odd people attending the conference in unison. Never have I been to a gathering of this kind, supporting a cause often overlooked and avoided by most people, for most part. Glad to know things are really moving forward now, with more people awakening to the bigger picture ...

Psychic attacks are common. We are all exposed to them, and they are responsible for many of the neuroses we see in our daily lives. Most of us have had experiences with psychic attacks, which somehow affect our thought process, our sense of judgment becomes wayward and we act out of compulsion rather than from a place of peace and understanding which might be our natural way of being. Psychic attacks and Energy Vampires make us feel drained ... sometimes bringing out the worst in us. They are not always people you interact with on a regular basis you may not like so much. Some are pretty much strangers whose presence makes you feel uncomfortable or draining.

Recently came across this beautifully written article on how to deal with psychic attacks and energy vampires ... The article speaks of a spurt in psychic energy attacks happening with a lot of folks around the world as we speak. Re-emergence of issues which seek healing in all kinds of relationships are more prevalent than ever before. Shedding off old layers which serve us no more help us bring newer perspectives into our awareness. Planet Earth is in transition and we can feel discomfort at some level as we are all connected to the spirit of Gaia whether we are consciously aware of it or not.

There’s a high degree of Psychic Energy Attack going on in the field right now. My strong sense is that it’s coming from (what I call) the ‘raptor consciousness’. It is a dense vibration, a controlling energy, that’s like a consumptive virus. It’s prevalent across the planet, has been so for millions of years, and acts through humanity’s denser vehicles of expression. I’ve described it’s origins in the Divinicus Book. Right now, that energy has been deeply stirred up and its stronghold here greatly challenged by the supportive, realigning energies of benevolence. It’s making life increasingly unstable, but here’s why that’s a good thing and how to deal with it…

It’s what happens when you stir the bed of the stream

The matrix is an interwoven system of frequencies that lowers vibration into dense behaviourisms – ones that specifically target the mind for example and thereby addict people to the consumptive physicality of life. Various energetic layers of the matrix have been stripped away in recent years leaving the base ‘raptor consciousness’ feeling very exposed – that’s my sense of it (some refer to it as the ‘reptilian energy’ acting through that ancient DNA within us).

I know this will sound very esoteric to some, but there are entities working the field in the background, purposefully depleting people so as to enhance their own energy. You hardly know they exist, because they operate on a different frequency than the human body. So you can’t see them necessarily, but they act through your 4D field, implanting thought and emotion to get people living lives that generally don’t serve their higher self. They feed off the energy that is then released. When directly challenged, that consciousness is bound to react and fight back, it’s what happens when you stir the ‘bed of the stream’. So the first advice to offer, is not to worry if you feel this denser energy depleting you, either during the day or in your sleep. It’s going to happen as this energy is confronted, unraveled and stripped away from the planet over time. But you’re strongly advised to counter it in your own field too.

9 Methods for dealing with Psychic Energy Attack

Here is some general advice around dealing with that…

1. Become as Nothing

In the Openhand Approach, this intervention energy is only ever present because of unconsciousness and sense of lack – the need to be completed in some way. Hence presence and awareness is essential: ‘becoming as nothing’ within your field, meaning not to react, go into fear or panic about what might be happening. Soften through your field with awareness. First accept whatever is going on. Be the witness of it, the Observer. This takes a lot of practice and we’ll need to progressively soften into new layers and new personal resistances as they arise. So keep working on this one – this article explains about realising more deeply “the One” inside of you…

2. Understand the personal limitations you’re dealing with

Accept that the Intervention is teaching your something about yourself. It will expose your own attachments, trauma and karma, because that’s what it acts within – your pain is the place where the light enters. So learn to transcend the pain by understanding what limitation you might be working with, thus you enlighten through the pain. This video gives a deeper indication in what I’m speaking of…

3. Take sovereignty of your field

Once you’ve become ‘as nothing’ in the attack, then you can truly begin work with it and shift it from your field. You can do this by acting through your field. It’s taking back sovereignty within your field through presence. So take some time to lie still, relax and scan your field for tell tale signs of some kind of attack/intervention: a buzzing in the head, temples or third eye; nausea in the solar plexus; tightness like a wound knot in the abdomen; a sense of depletion of your energy and general tiredness (especially when you wake up in the morning).

4. Build sense of Warrior Will

The more presence and attention you can bring to your field, the more likely you’ll feel the subtle signs of intervention. So then begin to work against it, using your intuition and sense of will. Recognise this energy does not belong in your field and doesn’t serve you. Let this stir your ray 1 warrior energy. Without anger, judgment or resentment, begin to push out this energy from your field. You can use particular meditations that you’re drawn to. Deep consciousness bodywork for example like soulmotion or Tai Chi (with the sense of the warrior) or strong, energetic dance.

5. The importance of staying grounded

Make sure in all these counter activities that you stay grounded, that your energy doesn’t leave the body or rise only into the higher chakras. So make sure you root yourself to the earth; push your energy down through your body into your legs and through your feet. The raptor consciousness is dense, you might feel it coming up from the ground, hence the need to push back down, to root the fullness of your consciousness throughout your body.

6. Establish energy fields

Consider establishing energy fields through your home and general area you live in. These are established by what you might call an ‘act of prayer’. It’s not praying though and not asking for anything in particular. It’s using your sense of presence and divine connection to establish a clear energy through the space that you live. If you or others are getting tight, wound up or angry in that space, use meditation to unravel it by sending peaceful waves through it. Switch off and unplug as much electronics as possible. Switch from wifi to ethernet where practicable. Switch off the mobile phone when not in use. Use the TV sparingly. All of these vibrations have a disruptive affect on your surrounding field and can allow in the intervention.

7. Create a Sacred Space

Many of us live in family environments where others are less conscious of what’s going on in the field and may have more attachment to ‘matrix’ behaviours. So in addition to the above, it’s going to help greatly to establish your own sacred space (that is entirely yours) within the home. It is from here that you can send out peaceful waves of energy through the entire space.

8. Be mindful of diet

You are what you eat. Be especially mindful of your diet. If you consume the denser vibrations of the matrix (meat, dairy and junk food such as MSG, Gluten, processed sugar), then you need to be cleansing these from your field daily. Investigate those foods that detox, rejuvenate and bring aligned vibrancy.

9. Call in Support

Benevolence is there to help us in all its myriad forms. If you have the sense of a particular Archangel for example (Michael perhaps) you can call in supportive help and protection. Bear in mind that true benevolence wishes to empower you personally. So make sure you’ve actively engaged in your own self-realisation first through the steps taken above. But then by all means work with fourth dimensional and angelic support. You simply have to open your heart and invite that presence to work with you, being very clear, that anything which doesn’t support your highest good has no invitation into your field. You can actually state and feel the energy of this through your field as an act of meditation.

Healing the Wounded Dragon in You

Finally, it’s important to evolve your behaviours over time. Especially now where the raptor consciousness will be more desperate to influence those behaviours. Here’s an important video on dealing with this energy that we call “Healing the Divine Warrior” – the wounded dragon (which this denser energy influences). It offers plenty of useful insight into this distorted energy and how to transform it within you.

Sending you love and support in these challenging times. Have no fear, take heart!

30 years of marijuana being illegal, India now for Marijuana Legalisation Movement

With several countries in the world, including Uruguay and some states in the USA, legalising marijuana (cannabis), the movement has finally found a foothold in India. The first-ever conference in India for the legalisation of Marijuana will be held in Bengaluru on May 10, although the venue is yet to be finalised.

The Great Indian Legalisation Movement will organise Medical Cannabis Conferences across four cities - Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai and Delhi on consecutive weekends in May. The seating has been limited to 200 people for the Bengaluru conference.

Organised by Viki Vaurora, a 23-year-old musician and recording engineer, the event will focus on the medicinal properties of the plant.

"Countries like Israel and Netherlands have been researching the medicinal value of the plant for years. It has proven to help people with cancer, diabetes, leukaemia and bipolar disorder. To top it, cannabis is easily available in nature and easily accessible," says Vaurora who experienced the effects of marijuana while studying music production in London and says it helped him overcome depression.

One of the guests who will be speaking at the conference will be Rick Simpson, the founder of Phoenix Tears, who was the first person to extract concentrated cannabis oil for the purpose of treating cancer. He claims to have used it to cure several people with the oil.

"The event is exclusively organised for doctors, media and (senior) students " says Vaurora, adding: "Cannabis has been a part of Indian culture since the Vedic times and plays a role in Ayurveda. It was only in 1961 that United States tried to bully India into making it illegal and under the Rajiv Gandhi government in 1984 they made it a Class-A drug clubbing it with cocaine and heroin. Now, many states in the US have started making it legal. I don't see why we should be victims to such draconian laws."

The cannabis flower not only has medical properties but its stem too can be used to make hemp fibre which can used in the making of clothes, ropes and even hemp plastic, Vaurora explains while pointing out that Henry Ford made a car entirely out of hemp in 1941. "I don't think the government has the right to tell people what they can consume and what they can't, especially when they allow companies to openly sell tobacco and alcohol which are proven to be harmful to an individual. Marijuana on the other hand doesn't have adverse effects and isn't addictive either," Vaurora says .

He stopped smoking marijuana when he moved back to India three years ago and hasn't smoked since. He points out to the destruction of over 60,000 acres of marijuana plantation in Himachal Pradesh and the North East where it is abundantly grown. He alleges that big pharma companies and the European Union are paying the government to destroy the crops.

It's been almost half a century since Dennis McKenna (ethnopharmacologist and research pharmacognosist) and his brother Terence (philosopher, ethnobotanist and shaman) set off on a journey that would make them legends. A deep, inevitable need to find the answers to basic questions lead them to the far corners of South America and even further - to the twisted corners of the human mind. Their quest demanded not only the courage to venture into the dark paths of unexplored lands of knowledge, but also the courage to undermine social, religious and scientific beliefs of that era. The SCREAMING ABYSS that they challenged was not only a vast emptiness in human expertise but also a huge gap in experience that Western culture had. As the following decades showed, Western culture needed something to fill this gap. One sign of this is the fact that a book by Dennis and Terence has sold over 100,000 copies since its release in 1976. And also the fact that it was published under nicknames. The title of the book was Psilocybin: Magic Mushroom Grower’s Guide and it described the first reliable method of home cultivation of mushrooms that can open the human mind. Well this is our greatness - we can reach the stars without leaving home.

This shows that Dennis McKenna is not a shaman who keeps his secret cognizance for himself, but willingly shares it with others. In his memoir, The Brotherhood of the Screaming Abyss, he shares his memories about his brother and their common quest. One of the architects of the mind revolution of the 60s also shares the beliefs at the foundation of OpenBooks.com and joined our eBook revolution. That’s why he decided to support our concept by publishing his newest book on our platform.

OpenBooks.com: The title of your book contains an intriguing secret. Why and how is the brotherhood connected to an abyss? And why is the abyss screaming?

Dennis McKenna: This title has multiple origins. Partly, it’s a reminder of an abyss that was important to me and my brother when we were children: the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument, which was near the town where we grow up - Paonia, Colorado. It’s the deepest gorge in Western US, much deeper than the Grand Canyon. My family used to go there all the time; we would drive over and take a picnic lunch, and spend the day looking into the abyss from all areas. It was more than 3000 feet deep in places. The cover of the book is a picture of my brother and me gazing into that abyss, a photo taken by our mother in 1957. And the frontispiece of part 1 is another picture, taken by me in 2011. The ‘screaming’ part of the abyss harkens back to a favorite sci-fi/horror author of ours, H. P. Lovecraft. His horror stories were often about ancient aliens from beyond the stars: ‘the unspeakable, gibbering horrors from the screaming abyss’, which always appealed to us as young teenagers obsessed with science fiction. So when it was time for us to travel to South America in search of the ‘Secret’, we called ourselves ‘the brotherhood of the screaming abyss’. It was tongue in cheek, making light of our quest which we actually took very seriously. But we were Irish, and had a twisted Irish sense of humor. So although we were seeking the Ultimate Secret, it was healthy to have a bit of humor about it. And then finally, on some unconscious level I think it also refers to the DMT experience. Taking DMT is kind of like stepping off into an abyss; and if you did that, you’d scream!

What (in the early 70s and later) distinguished your attitude to experiments with substances inducing altered states of consciousness from the typical hippy or New Age approach?

We were contemptuous of the counterculture’s approach to psychedelics. It seemed very superficial to us. Once we had discovered and experienced DMT, we realized that it was more astounding than any other drug we’d ever encountered; indeed, more astounding than any other thing we had encountered! And DMT was rare in those days, almost nobody was talking about it. And it was just clear to us that Timothy Leary, the only spokesman for psychedelics in the 60s, was as baffled and clueless about the true nature of psychedelics as everyone else. Then we discovered that psychedelics were quite ancient, nothing new, and that they figured prominently in many shamanic traditions, especially in South America. So we figured that if we wanted to understand psychedelics, we had to go talk to indigenous people who knew how to use them, had been doing so for thousands of years. That was partly why we decided to set out for South America in search of the ‘Secret’. We weren’t ‘joiners’ and we weren’t interested in joining a cult, which is what the Leary-inspired social phenomenon was becoming. So we rejected that. We wanted to find out for ourselves just what was going on.

What was the goal of your quest? Finding out about the nature of the human brain, or consciousness, or maybe mankind?

The short answer is we were both driven by curiosity which is the human trait that drives all science, all discovery.

We wanted to understand these ultimate questions: the nature of existence and consciousness, the place of our species in nature and the destiny of our species. My brother and I had a very similar approach to finding out about these questions. The main difference between us was that Terence was more of a philosopher and speculator; my approach was more scientific. I was interested in the ‘nuts and bolts’ of how things worked, while he was more interested in the metaphysical and philosophical side of things. These two approaches overlapped and were very complementary in many ways. Neither one of us were interested in the pat, standard ‘answers’ handed out by religion. We rejected that early on. We were big believers in thinking for ourselves and not accepting belief systems designed mostly to make people stop being curious, stop asking questions.

What circumstances, influences and predispositions shaped your attitude?

I would say just that: curiosity. It’s what drives most honest scientific inquiry. That, and DMT; it presented us with a real mystery. It seemed to be the ultimate mystery, and it was worth going after. A deep early influence from science fiction helped too. Also Jungian psychology and alchemy; both of these disciplines gave us a framework within which to understand the mysteries we were investigating.

Since that era, opinion about psychedelic substances has evolved within Western societies. What’s your opinion about the current state of the common mind?

After a long hiatus following the prohibition of most psychedelics at the end of the 60s, the door to scientific investigations and research is opening again. The potential for therapeutic uses of these substances is being recognized again. In the not very distant past, if you wanted to devote your life to researching psychedelics, your colleagues regarded you as crazy! And it was a sure way to destroy your career. The system was not set up to allow this. Now, it’s almost respectable. You no longer have to hide your head in shame if you want to work in this area. Even now there are a number of FDA approved clinical trials underway with psilocybin, to study existential anxiety in terminal patients, depression, alcoholism, even nicotine addiction. These clinical studies are showing remarkable results. Another substance, MDMA, is showing great promise for treating PTSD, especially in military veterans. There is a great need for such treatments because there are so many veterans who suffer from this, having been traumatized in combat. Many other kinds of trauma as well, such as sexual trauma. And there are no good treatments or medications that help people confront these experiences and heal from them.

Here’s a link to a recent article that gives a good description of current work with psilocybin.

Are things going in a similar way in South American countries, like Brazil or Peru?

I suppose similar things are going on in Brazil, but there most of the interest is in ayahuasca. There are several syncretic religions such as the UDV and Santo Daime that use ayahuasca in religious practices, and this has been permitted for decades. But many members of these churches are also scientists and clinicians, and are beginning to investigate its possible clinical uses.

Of course outside the context of research, in South America, especially Peru, ayahuasca is getting very popular! There is now an ‘ayahuasca tourism’ industry, where North Americans and Europeans are flocking to retreat centers in Peru in search of a traditional shamanic ayahuasca ceremony. While this has created some problems (occasional abuse of women by unscrupulous practitioners for example), all in all, this tourism is probably a healthy thing, though of course it will change the traditional practice. But young people, and many others, are disillusioned with our religious institutions and long to have a genuine, spiritually satisfying religious experience. They often don’t find it in established religious institutions; in fact, many of those religions seem very concerned with preventing that kind of experience from ever happening! So people are motivated to seek these experiences outside the context of established religion. I think this is important, and legitimate. Our Western, consumerist lifestyles are bereft of spiritual meaning; there is a huge vacuum. People go to South America to find ayahuasca to try to fill that vacuum.

March 4, 2015, was the 44th anniversary of the “Experiment at La Chorrera”… What significant things do you know now that you didn’t know back then?

A lot can happen in 44 years, and hopefully one of these things is that we grow a little wiser. I am somewhat more cynical than I was as a young man of 20 setting out in search of the ‘Secret’. What I know now, that I didn’t know then, is that one never really finds the ‘Secret’! The real secret is the quest itself; there is no final answer, only more questions. And I’m fine with that. That’s as it should be. I’m as curious and astonished by the universe in all its beauty and mystery as an old man of 64 as I was as a young man; maybe even more.

Another thing I’ve learned, if I’ve learned anything, is how little I know! How little anyone knows, really. So it’s important to bear that in mind and not get too arrogant about how much we know. The realm of the unknown will always be infinitely greater than the small realm that we do know (or think we know). Psychedelic experiences are good for that; they always remind me of how little we know. I still regard these medicines as the greatest gift of my life, still take them, and still learn from them.

I’ve also learned in 64 years that time is the most important thing we ‘have’; it’s much more valuable than money. And the paradox is that we don’t really have it; the more we grasp at it, the faster it slips away it seems. More than anything else, I’d like to have a time machine, but that is by definition impossible. The time machine, or something like it, is what we were trying to create at La Chorrera, and we demonstrated that that approach, at least, is impossible!

If you had the opportunity to change something in your past, would you? And what would it be?

Basically I’m grateful to have lived in such a marvelous universe, in such interesting times, and I don’t regret any of it. I wish that my beloved brother had lived long enough to see 2012, and to still be here to share with me the wonder and curiosity that we shared back in the day. He’s still very much with me, and with a lot of people apparently, judging by his ubiquity on the Net. He’s achieved an odd kind of immortality; he still haunts the Net, and his many talks and lectures are still as timely and interesting today as they were 20, 30, 40 years ago. If I could change anything, I would change that: his untimely passing in the prime of his life.

In our world today, people seem to be obsessed about money ... Either the lack of it or having too much of it not knowing how one should be spending it wisely, perhaps for a good cause with an intention to serve others. Many people on a spiritual path who choose to live consciously often just want to ignore it. Some of us who don't give money too much importance often earn just the minimum to survive, and spend little. But money is neither good nor bad in itself. It is a neutral instrument for measuring exchange based on a community agreement. It has the values we give to it through our attitude and use of it.

On a deeper, metaphysical level money is actually concretized energy or what the Ageless Wisdom calls “prana” or life force. If Spirit is matter at its highest vibration and matter is Spirit at its lowest vibration, then money is actually Spirit vibrating at a slower frequency. Money can be seen as both a particle (a coin or bill) and a wave (a flow of financial energy). Seen as a particle, money can create attachment, either desire or fear of lack. Seen as a wave, money is a stream of flowing energy, circulating widely. When it’s freely given, more can be received from the abundant supply of the Universe. This is the Divine Circulatory Flow.

Why Spiritual People Have Money Problems

Why is it that many good spiritual people often lack the money needed to make their work more effective? Many of us seem to experience an inner split or dualism, believing that money is only connected with worldly things, pleasure and comfort and desire, while spirituality is a world set apart. Many spiritual people are often too abstracted, living in the higher worlds, and not connected to the earth. They may also have an imbalance or block in their second chakra energy, as this chakra relates to money and sex.

But spirituality and financial abundance are not mutually exclusive. It all depends on what you do with your money-- whether it’s selfishly hoarded, or used to help others in some way. Is it held as sacred trust and responsibility?

Since money is a medium of exchange, when you are not involved in exchange with the world and are too isolated, you may not be able to attract money to yourself. You may have a lot of ambivalence towards money-- about earning it or asking for it.

You may have had one or more past lives in religious order, an ashram or a monastery where money was ignored or seen as evil. I discovered that in a past life I took a vow of poverty that was still binding me, and I had to consciously work on releasing that vow, telling my subconscious that it may have been very appropriate in a past life, but not today. It’s important to release any old attitudes that money taints spiritual endeavors, as this may no longer be appropriate or true.

As a spiritual person, it’s good to explore whether you are too detached from the material world, operating on higher mental, abstract levels, and so cannot attract money. Your selflessness may also result in an inappropriate sense of shame in needing or manifesting money. You may also have a sense of distaste or laziness in dealing with the material side of life. It’s important to avoid becoming isolated from the world, from exchange and energy flow with others.

Another possibility is that you may have a subconscious memory of a past life where you misused money through greed, selfishness or dishonesty, so there is a deep lack of trust in yourself to not misuse it.

Chakra imbalances and blockages in your lower centers, especially in the sacral or sexual chakra can also be the cause of a lack of financial resources. You may be surprised to know that your sexual center is also your money center. But advertisers know this quite well, as that is why they are always using sex to sell a product.

Many people may also have a wounding from negative experiences around money—such as dysfunctional family patterns when they were growing up--a sense of fear, worry, scarcity? How many of us were told that “Money is the root of all evil”? Or “Money doesn’t grow on trees.” Do you subconsciously believe you have to have to nearly kill yourself in hard work to earn it?

Many of us also experience a lack of education and training in how to rightly handle money. Not only do you need to know how to balance your checkbooks, but also how to invest money wisely and in a socially responsible manner.

How Money Can Be a Spiritual Asset

So how do I see money as a “spiritual asset”? Some people think that spiritual work shouldn’t require money, but any service work in the world—from feeding the hungry to providing spiritual teaching-- does require money, and sometimes a great deal of it. Money can help us be more effective in our service and help it expand, as for example, printing more spiritual literature, hiring professional help or extra staff, building a building, buying advertising space to let people know about a book or a class, etc.

Needing to attract money to sustain yourself keeps you grounded and connected with meeting the true needs of society. Money creates relationships with those you share it with, and relationships can help your spiritual development. Money can be a wonderful mirror for you to see yourself more clearly.

Money can buy resources such as books, seminars, and counseling that can aid spiritual development. It can buy time for spiritual studies, practice and quiet retreats.

Money can provide for your physical health and the sense of well-being necessary to be of service to others. How can you help others if you’re sick or tired? Money is also needed for the tools, staff, buildings, etc. to make your service more effective in the world. Having a lot of money can enable you to move at all levels of society as needed for your service.

Recognize and Transform Unhealthy Attitudes

Your personality is a “consumer”, and is usually hungry to be filled--a limitless black hole of money fear and anxiety to own and possess—but the hunger can only be truly filled by the soul. You can live in the golden flow of solar abundance, where the soul is like a sun, a producer and generator of energy, rather than a consumer of energy, and it gives out to the world. Having “enough” means having what is needed to fulfill your life purpose, which may vary depending on the nature and scope of that purpose.

Each person has a “karmic bank account” --your good deeds or contributions (deposits) are balanced by your harmful actions or unjustified takings (withdrawals). Debt measures how much more you have taken from life than given to life.

As a spiritual worker, it is important to realize that physical living, when motivated from the spiritual levels, is equally important to spiritual practice. One of the greatest gifts you can give to the world is the example of a well-balanced life of giving to others – balancing spirit and matter. You can do well by doing good -- spirituality and financial abundance are not mutually exclusive when you do work that helps others.

By developing and maintaining detachment and avoiding being absorbed in money and possessions, you retain your inner freedom and dignity. To be a “spiritual master” of money, you must resist using it to indulge sensual desires, indolence, or to gain personal power. You then can hold money as a sacred trust to be used for the good of all humanity.

Attracting Money to Meet Real Needs

Need, love and magnetic power are the three key things that must be present at the same time to attract money for spiritual work. You must have a clear need for the money. You must have sufficient love—of yourself, of others, of your work, and of life itself. And you must be energetic and magnetic through your positive attitudes and faith in the abundance of the Universe. As you focus on thoughts that are for the benefit of the wider community, your magnetic attraction of money will increase. As you release and give away things you no longer need or use, you create a vacuum for money to flow in. This is following the Law of Gravitation: Use, demand, take -- which unlocks a higher door of supply.

The Bible says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven, and all things will be added unto you,” and “As you give, so shall you receive.” Recognize that God, the Universe the One Energy is the source of all abundance, and develop an attitude of gratitude for what you’ve already been given. See yourself as a custodian, rather than an owner of money and material things.

In reality, the different methods by which one can render service to humanity interlace and complement each other. There are those who devote time and energy to such work and who must be given the financial and material support needed to continue and expand their service. There are those who can provide this support, and the more numerous and generous these donors are, the greater can be the number of those who dedicate themselves to spiritual activities.

Therefore all people of goodwill can cooperate in one way or another in the task, so necessary and so urgent, of hastening in a new era and supporting its pioneers, who are the builders of the new and better civilization and culture. In conclusion, the problem of money and earthly possessions is a spiritual problem, and its solution can be found only in the light of the Spirit. Spirit and matter, seemingly at odds with one another, can and must be harmoniously blended in a dynamic synthesis within the Unity of Life.

Over the past decade, the hunt for genetic connections with behavior as intensified. For any experience, there must be a physical activity in the brain — otherwise, the experience has no basis. Using this irrefutable assumption, researchers have looked for the seat of anger, criminal behavior, gender identification, the sense of self, and many other aspects of human nature. This includes spirituality. Where is God in the brain? To many neuroscientists, that's not only a valid question but the only one worth asking, insofar as spiritual experiences have any reality.

Now we are hearing about "God in the genes," as genetics overtakes neuroscience for the top spot in explaining the roots of human experience. Where the brain operates only in the present, genetics peers deep into the past. A geneticist would want to know what evolutionary advantage early humans got from being spiritual — in the broadest sense of the word — that led to a better chance to survive. This whole line of inquiry, whether we're taking about the brain or our genes, makes sense if you are a materialist. But it runs the danger of saying that spirituality is only about the physical side of the experience, as if music could never be discussed except by looking at pianos and radios, the physical side of delivering the musical experience.

The materialist explanation is filled with philosophical flaws, but instead of focusing on that, it's more productive to ask how the brain and genes relate to spiritual experience. The physical side must be accounted for, without making it the whole story. To explore a new kind of explanation that embraces both the physical and non-physical, let's examine an experience that most people have had. Without experiencing God, angels, the soul, or other traditionally religious things, almost everyone has had at least one or two inexplicable coincidences in their lives. Synchronicity is the commonly used term for a meaningful coincidence, such as thinking someone's name and having that person telephone a few seconds later, or opening a book at random and finding the answer to a problem you've been wrestling with.

Synchronicity doesn't feel random, which is how it is differentiated from coincidences that have no meaning but happen by chance. The spiritual link involves how to explain a meaningful coincidence. When someone is rescued through a string of chance events, did God intervene? If a car is stranded by the side of the road and a stranger appears out of nowhere to offer help, is God answering a need or a prayer? Events without causes lead to all kinds of unusual explanations.

The term synchronicity was coined by the eminent Swiss psychologist Carl Jung for a phenomenon he experienced with clients in psychotherapy. He first publically discussed synchronicity in a short essay describing synchronicity as an "acausal connecting principle." By using the word acausal he is pointing to the non-local nature of synchronicity. Non-locality is one of the major principles in quantum physics. Non-locality refers to behavior between particles that doesn't need a specific cause or location in space-time. Hitting a billiard ball with a cue entails both a cause and a location. The location is the point where the tip of the cue strikes the ball. The force of the strike is the cause that moves the ball.

But in the quantum domain there is a mystery known as action at a distance, where two particles react to each other instantaneously, even though they can be separated by light years. The action occurs without regard for distance or the limitation of the speed of light. Action at a distance has been popularly explained as "You tickle the universe here, and it laughs over there." Two particles that mirror each other's behavior are said to be entangled, although the mechanism behind action at a distance is unknown. Entanglement fits the mathematical model underlying quantum mechanics, and that is what counts when physics is arriving at reliable, precise calculations.

In the everyday world, however, non-locality is about people, not particles. It's part of human experience to have a meaningful coincidence happen that feels too profound—or too spooky—to feel random. A strict materialist would dismiss such feelings as unreliable and subjective, but "meaningful" isn't simply subjective. Finding meaning in our lives, from any source, is essential. So how can we fit synchronicity into a broader context?

The key is to connect inner and outer, because synchronicity is about an event "out there" that has sudden meaning "in here." To make the connection, nine principles apply to genuinely synchronous coincidences.

1. Synchronicity is a conspiracy of improbabilities. The entangled events break the boundaries of statistical probability).

2. The improbable events conspiring to create the synchronistic event are acausally related to each other. (Buddhist traditions call this interdependent co-arising. This is the equivalent of non-local correlation.)

3. Synchronistic events are orchestrated in the non-local domain.

4. As we become aware of synchronistic events, we move to higher or more expanded states of consciousness.

5. Synchronistic events are actually the result of an intention, which organizes the needed outcome.
(The intention may have been introduced consciously or unconsciously.)

6. Synchronistic events vary in importance. They can seem incidental or can change the course of a person's life.

7. Synchronistic events affect our emotions the way random coincidences don't. A synchronous event creates the experience of emotional fulfillment and joy.

8. Synchronistic events allow us to discover the meaning and purpose of our life.

9. Synchronistic events are personal. In effect they are messages from our non-local self.

Taken together, these principles enable us to receive clues about the essential unity of two realities that seem to be separate: the inner world of thoughts, feelings, memories, fantasies, desires, and intentions, and the outer world of space-time events. The inner and outer are the same field, one non-dual consciousness that simultaneously creates both the subjective world and the objective world.

Therefore, synchronicity isn't simply a passing anomaly that can be shrugged off. Something crucial is happening.

'Voyage to Betterment' is an interesting documentary film about the current state of affairs on our planet, with diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, Coronary Heart Diseases etc ... running rampant all over and what we could possibly do to improve the quality of the lives we lead by being more conscious of what we feed our body and how we can nourish our soul. What does it really take to keep good health?

The film introduces the viewer to the Ten Principal Elements for Well Being. As soon as we mention well being everyone immediately thinks of food and exercise. So that is where the film begins. A group of regular people are filmed taking a 30 day food and exercise challenge. Their first week on a holistic cruise yet it turns out the group spent far more time partying then doing yoga or taking in workshops. The film highlights some of the main marketing techniques that we are programmed by.

Then the viewer is left with an appreciation for the difficulty in distinguishing truth from falsehood by the examination of our beliefs including the one thing dear to all, the beliefs about food choice. Secretly, nearly everyone believes their food choices are best and others have it all wrong. Our beliefs about which food is best for us goes from one extreme to the other.

Many believe that meat based diets are best and others that vegan diets are best. Is the truth somewhere in the middle or closer to one end or the other? In the film leading vegetarian doctors highlighted their most critical findings of their lifetime of work. Andrew served as the coach of the participants featured in the film. Although he is not vegetarian himself he put the participants in the film to the test to see if what the vegetarian experts say in the film holds any value.

Before and after blood tests measured the effect of their plant based food challenge, with something of concern to everyone, our risk of developing major illness and our biological age. When the participants in the film discovered the depths of human potential and the reality that everything is forever recorded in consciousness, it left them speechless.

The film goes on to reveal other critical elements for well being and captured things on film for the first time ever. Viewers will see a tumor disappear in minutes, and grass growing taller when surrounded by love.

In the story that follows, Sadhguru tells us about Shiva, the first yogi, and how he transmitted the yogic sciences to the Saptarishis.

Sadhguru: In the yogic culture, Shiva is not known as a god, but as the Adiyogi or the first yogi – the originator of yoga. He was the one who first put this seed into the human mind. According to the yogic lore, over fifteen thousand years ago, Shiva attained to his full enlightenment and abandoned himself in an intense ecstatic dance upon the Himalayas. When his ecstasy allowed him some movement, he danced wildly. When it became beyond movement, he became utterly still.

People saw that he was experiencing something that nobody had known before, something that they were unable to fathom. Interest developed and people came wanting to know what this was. They came, they waited and they left because the man was oblivious to other people’s presence. He was either in intense dance or absolute stillness, completely uncaring of what was happening around him. Soon, everyone left… Except for seven men.

These seven people were insistent that they must learn what this man had in him, but Shiva ignored them. They pleaded and begged him, “Please, we want to know what you know.” Shiva dismissed them and said, “You fools. The way you are, you are not going to know in a million years. There is a tremendous amount of preparation needed for this. This is not entertainment.”

So they started preparing. Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, they prepared. Shiva just chose to ignore them. On a full moon day, after eighty-four years of sadhana, when the solstice had shifted from the summer solstice to the winter solstice – which in this tradition is known as Dakshinayana – the Adiyogi looked at these seven people and saw that they had become shining receptacles of knowing. They were absolutely ripe to receive. He could not ignore them anymore. They grabbed his attention.

He watched them closely for the next few days and when the next full moon rose, he decided to become a Guru. The Adiyogi transformed himself into the Adi Guru; the first Guru was born on that day which is today known as Guru Pournami. On the banks of Kanti Sarovar, a lake that lies a few kilometers above Kedarnath, he turned South to shed his grace upon the human race, and the transmission of the yogic science to these seven people began. The yogic science is not about a yoga class that you go through about how to bend your body – which every new born infant knows – or how to hold your breath – which every unborn infant knows. This is the science of understanding the mechanics of the entire human system.

After many years, when the transmission was complete, it produced seven fully enlightened beings – the seven celebrated sages who are today known as the Saptarishis, and are worshipped and admired in Indian culture. Shiva put different aspects of yoga into each of these seven people, and these aspects became the seven basic forms of yoga. Even today, yoga has maintained these seven distinct forms.

The Saptarishis were sent in seven different directions to different parts of the world to carry this dimension with which a human being can evolve beyond his present limitations and compulsions. They became the limbs of Shiva, taking the knowing and technology of how a human being can exist here as the Creator himself, to the world. Time has ravaged many things, but when the cultures of those lands are carefully looked at, small strands of these people’s work can be seen, still alive. It has taken on various colors and forms, and has changed its complexion in a million different ways, but these strands can still be seen.

The Adiyogi brought this possibility that a human being need not be contained in the defined limitations of our species. There is a way to be contained in physicality but not to belong to it. There is a way to inhabit the body but never become the body. There is a way to use your mind in the highest possible way but still never know the miseries of the mind. Whatever dimension of existence you are in right now, you can go beyond that – there is another way to live. He said, “You can evolve beyond your present limitations if you do the necessary work upon yourself.” That is the significance of the Adiyogi.
