Zen is a school of Mahāyāna Buddhism. The Japanese word Zen is derived from the Chinese word Chán, which in turn is derived from the Sanskrit word dhyāna, which means "meditation" or "meditative state."

Zen has been surrounded by myth, taboo and misconception. The Zen Mind is a journey across Japan to explore the practice of zen and expel some of these myths. "The Zen Mind - A Zen Journey Across Japan" is a documentary full of contrasts as we travel across the width and breadth of Japan to explore Zen today.

In Japan, the cloistered lifestyle of the zen monk is declining, but zen is finding a renewal among the baby boomers in the cities. Our journey starts here with a visit to the Dogen Sangha or zen center, tucked among the office buildings of a Tokyo suburb, where commuters and office-workers stop by for meditation.

We join the formal ceremonies of Kyoto’s largest zen temple and witness the rituals that have managed to survive a thousand years. In the depths of the surrounding countryside we visit a zen center that is carrying on the very spar tan and simple zen lifestyle that many temples have abandoned. This contrast heightens as we enter Japan’s largest soto zen monastery and live with the zen monks and disciples. Our cameras film unrestricted as we join the monks.

We have always been fascinated by zen. What does it do (nothing)? What is it (not much)? How do you practice (do nothing)?. So how do you make a documentary of something that you cannot see or touch? Well, I think we succeeded, by the great reviews we keep receiving. This story could not be told without the great music of Japan’s top Shakuhachi flute player – Christopher Yohmei and the melodies of Synthezer player, Uehara. The soundtrack is also available.

First, we decided to film on location in Japan and at the widest range of zen centers and monasteries – from the zen centers in downtown bustling Tokyo to the mountains above Kyoto, it is an incredible film of contrasts. Secondly, we talked to every teacher and roshi that we could find – and then narrowed this down to some of the best interviews on zen life and zen daily practice. Any idea of "what is" takes us away from what is - to be in the moment, all ideas need to be gone. There's not even an "I" to have the ideas.

The natural being acts as an outcome of the movement of the universe, in the same way that an artist's brush is moved by its "universe".

All "teachings", "spiritual" paths or "sacred" practices actually take us away from the moment, because it needs an "I" to do them, with an agenda of some kind, something to gain. All of which removes our beingness from the identity-free moment.

The only way that "what is" can be experienced is to lose all traces of self, in which case the "what is" can't be experienced because there is no one there to experience it.

Any description of the state of the natural mind is false, including this one. "It" cannot be described. "It" is always "bigger" than the limiting description.

There is not even an "ultimate" state to gain, because the very idea that there is, takes us away from it.

All there is, is the operation of the universe in its all-ness. There's no such thing as "enlightened" or "unenlightened". These are just ideas of what is.

Even "bliss" or "transcendence" is a state of mind that needs an "I" to experience those feelings.

Thoughts are the glue of our belief structures. "I" is the creation of thoughts and beliefs.

What's happening, when we think we are functioning human beings, is the operating system of the brain, running sophisticated meme/belief structures that create the content of our identities and sense of self.

The only act awareness can "do" is to let go of "self" awareness. Awareness, to be fully there, needs to have no "I" attached to it.

Where there was self, there is now "active" emptiness.

Action, from this place, is an instantaneous, pure response to the call of the moment. It is the moment, the universe acting, not the person.

True peace is an absence of agitation, an absence of self-generated internal activity. So peace cannot be "done", or created - it's an absence of doing. This allows unadulterated "what-is" to be.

All action out of this state is completely harmonious and non-conflicting. There is nothing there to conflict with anything else.

A transcended being feels the world cleanly, whereas an "I", full of beliefs and ideas of self, overlays those unadulterated feelings with external content, imbuing them with emotional "charge". This charge is reactive to the world around it, continually creating conflict as it attempts to dissipate.

Whatever is actual or real can only be there when all ideas, all thoughts, all belief, all traces of identity are gone - when there is no "I" left to take us out of the moment. If the eternal now moment is all there is, this may be the only way to be in it.

Thought is only necessary, only of any use, when it is called for by the moment, for a particular task. To keep thinking beyond the particular call of the moment is the same as keeping your arm above your head all the time, or hopping on one leg all the time.

What comes out of the moment relates only to that moment. It's already past and nonexistent as it is experienced. To hold to anything experienced or said in that moment, is to live in the dead past.

If you can't touch it, show it, taste it, does it have any reality?

Indigo Races Written by Lisa Renee Sunday, 15 July 2007

Dear Family, Last month we talked about the Deployment of the various soul groups that are beginning to activate and assemble in order to participate in the next level of our individual and collective soul plan. I will refer to these soul groups as the Indigo Races or Starseeds. Please note that the Indigo Races are apart of the Starseed Family, however, are not the only race belonging to the Starseed family.

This article will discuss that in this year, there are to be three main streams of souls emerging to more actively participate in their Ascension soul contracts. These soul groups will be described in what has been referred to by the Guardians as “Indigo Typing”. Each of these Indigo Types hold specific expertise within a certain area of the Ascension process. Many of these Indigo’s will be further activated in the “Ascension Wave” underway mid May through the Fall months. Subsequently these Ascended souls will be recruited for more visible or active roles in the world. The term 'Indigo' refers to both young children and adults.


Ascension Wave Now !

At this time the Starseed Family is in an accelerated cycle of soul plan evolution (The Ascension Wave). Much of this “plan” is to have a mutually supportive connection to the new planetary Frequency Hubs. This “Ascension Wave”, as mentioned in previous articles, is that we are experiencing very concentrated frequency activations in order to create the expansion of light in our bio-energy field. This is needed to activate the DNA to complete our Planetary Ascension. As we go through this level of Planetary Ascension, we are initiated into our “Plan B” Ascended Soul contract for being in greater service to the Earth. This “Plan B” is a whole new story book for our lives and experience. It is an entirely new level of multidimensional experience, frequency connection and world service. Ascension to higher and higher vibrating light fields is a particular process that involves three main levels for the human body. The “Initiation”, “Accretion” and “Activation” processes.

As you are “initiated” to the higher dimensional light fields, your Auric field is accessing the connection to that quality of frequency on that dimensional plane. As the Auric Field merges with that dimensional field, it begins to “accrete” or absorb that particular frequency into its personal Auric field. As the being’s personal Auric Field becomes filled to capacity, the new light frequency is stored and then anchors into the bodies permanently. Upon this anchoring of frequency certain chakra seals are dissolved and then an ”activation” occurs. The activation serves to stimulate DNA thereby creating new neurological structures to perceive these higher vibrating light fields. These higher vibrating light fields are also dimensions of which a higher aspect of our self is simultaneously experiencing. We are then merged with that aspect of our Higher Self and become the Higher Self merged with the physical personality. This cycle goes on and on for many future cycles of the soul’s evolution, here on Earth and beyond. However, the Ascension marks an important distinction from other evolutionary cycles. Planetary Ascension means that you are liberated from the cycles of rebirth into the 3rd dimension if you so choose.



At this key point in time, there are more Ascended Masters incarnated on the 3D physical plane than ever before. Having perfected a certain level of physical mastery through the chakra initiations, they are purely here as a service to humanity. Ascended Masters choose to incarnate on Earth during specific cycles to support and work for the enlightenment of humanity. Many of these Ascended souls are currently birthing on Earth and are volunteers sent from the Indigo Races. They have developed their spiritual bodies to serve others and have vowed that not one soul be left to suffer in spiritual darkness. This is one principal tenet of the “Law of One”. Also, these wonderful beings have also been referred to as “Boddhisattva’s” in eastern mysticism through the ages. In the March article we began to understand more about Root Races when we read about the Lemurian seed fears. To further understand our human lineage and the divine plan for the Earth experiment, we need to know about the Root Races and their purpose. For in knowing this purpose, we can more closely identify our own soul purpose for incarnating during this Ascension cycle. Earthseeds and Starseeds In the Earth human lineage there were seven (7) Root Races and five (5) additional races seeded within the Earth gene pool. The 7 Root races are called the “Earthseeds”.

Each Earthseed root race evolution cycle was to develop one of the first five (1-5) strands of DNA within the 12 strand DNA original divine human blueprint. The latter additional five races are referred to as the “Cloister” races. Their function was to keep the 12 strand DNA potential alive for the entire human race and represent the advancement of human evolution. The Cloister races are also called the “Starseeds”. So the Earthseeds were a part of the planetary evolutionary cycle to activate each DNA strand 1-5 and then to anchor in each new respective level of dimensional experience for the human species on Earth. And the Starseeds were a part of the planetary evolutionary cycle to hold the dormant DNA strands 7-12 in order to have the template of the divine human in tact through the cycles of evolution. Even though these DNA strands are dormant, it keeps the potential of the divine human’s True Spiritual Inheritance as a 12 Strand DNA Avatar possible. Each strand of DNA when activated correlates to the dimensional field of awareness available to the soul when incarnated in the human physical body.

Throughout the course of human history there has been additional genetic material contributed from various Star Families creating large varieties of Starseeds on Earth. Further hybridization and genetic enhancements resulted in a perfect prototype intended as the seed race for humanity. The perfected genetic code created through this hybridization is referred to as the Indigo Grail Lineage. This Indigo Grail Lineage holds the DNA design to transmute entirely out of biological form and/or hold simultaneously a 12 dimensional awareness within a biological form. These Indigo Grail Lines are the primary grail lines or the “Christ” grail lines among the human races. Absolutely all human biology’s have the potential to receive genetic acceleration, evolutionary advancement that will allow the 12 Strand DNA template to regenerate. This is one of the major purposes of the Indigo Grail Lines to regenerate and activate dormant or damaged DNA templates in the Human races.

All Indigos are born with the 6th DNA strand activated. Also, there are additional encodings operational within the 6th DNA Sub-strands, which allow for the memory of other soul “identity” aspects to be made available when the Indigo is embodied in 3D. However, as Indigo’s incarnate with the 6th-strand activation, it only becomes functional IF they can assemble the lower sub-strand fragments to "plug” fully into the 6th strand. This "IF" depends on what they inherit from their parent's gene code and what kind of environment they are raised in. As we move forward into this Ascension Cycle, the planetary frequency activations will steadily increase in vibrational scale and octave. These higher frequencies when exposed to the Indigo bio-energy field will increase the probability of these genetic enhancements fully activating and thus it becomes available to all of humanity.



Indigo Types

Indigo Types in the first category (Indigo 1) are generally experts in working with the larger matrices of the planetary energy fields called “Ley Lines”. These Ley Lines are also known as having “Axiatonal” line points and are comprised of a global energy matrix field for the planetary life force. This is a web-work of energy by which the scalar-wave frequencies of the core Planetary Grid is directed into use for the planet. These energies are also translated into the various planetary chakras, and other vortices of which hold various levels of the planetary life force. They are also the transmission points to receive and store stellar activations of frequency and to anchor those transmissions into the planetary body. Since we are in an aggressive frequency activation cycle, this affects the balance of the planetary grid and its many energy tributaries in the Ley Lines. These Indigos can transmit energy, frequency or light codes to further rebalance certain planet vortices or key points on the planetary grid.

They will be lead to hold groups and create large amounts of available light codes and frequency to heal or rebalance these Ley Lines. Many of these Indigos will be lead to travel extensively and will find themselves in many countries or spaces in short periods of time. This will occur naturally, if it is a part of the soul’s contract. This will emerge and become clear as you align to your highest soul purpose. Many Indigo 1’s have contracts with certain land demographics and are holding specific codes for the planet precisely for this time of Ascension for its frequency activation. These codes are transmitted from the Indigo’s personal energy field and anchored into the appropriate areas when they are called upon to be of service. Sometimes these Indigos will be fully conscious when in this process, or not. The bottom line is, if you find yourself traveling to many different places on the planet this year and forward, you have this contract. Your Higher Self will be working on these particular projects even as you are asleep. If you resonate with this for you personally, ask to be directed by your evolution teams and that you wish to be interactive in working with the planetary energies consciously.

I also feel this group will be largely responsible for working with the new Frequency Hubs in a variety of ways. Particularly in coming together to build and create conscious or intentional communities of Indigos (And all Multidimensional Beings) stationed in various areas on the planet. These new communities will be a well spring of new education and awareness of creating integrative, sustainable living in harmony with nature. Other communities will be the cosmic stations for our Interstellar connections and will begin a new portal of communication with our extended Star Families. They will be communities created with high level of available frequency that will render them as safe zones. These safe zones will repel levels of density or the actions of cause and effect from the 3D world. You will be internally guided to be in these areas during any possible planet climate shifts or cataclysm. Listen and cultivate your Higher Sensory Perception as this will emerge from your feeling/ intuitive body. Do not worry as this will happen effortlessly and easily as you merge with your soul plan.



Indigo 2

The Indigo 2’s are specifically working to regenerate and activate the Human DNA template’s to its highest potential. This will be the group of healers, the energy transmitters, working directly in the healing arts in some way. Each one has a specific gift of healing tools, light codes to assist humans in healing distortions embedded in the physical and energetic bodies. These distortions have been created and inherited from the karmic patterning resulting from all the incarnating evolutionary cycles. Also at this time of acceleration, it is required for some humans undergoing the Ascension process to be assisted with Etheric Surgery. Etheric Surgery is a new term for a new group of facilitators emerging to work on the multidimensional anatomy by supporting the Nadis system or other layers of the Auric Field. The Nadis System is the Electrical Nerval Plexus that receives and transmits the new frequencies being absorbed into the entire individual energy matrix and the cellular body. It acts as an energetic “switchboard” for the entire bio-energy field. The Nadis system is located at the etheric template layer of the energy bodies and may need to be upgraded in order to be calibrated easily to the new energies introduced to the personal field. This rewiring occurs to hold the new resonant frequencies in the individual’s body with minimum discomfort.

This will be a new career, as one of the many new healing modalities surfacing at this time. Many of these Indigos are the teachers of the New Energy and will emerge to discuss openly about the Ascension Process and it’s meaning for the evolution of the human species. Some will be recruited to create Wellness Centers with various holistic healing technologies based on spiritual-energetic principles. These groups are the bridge between the Old Energy world and the New Energy world. They are the way showers for embodying the principle of “Unification” and “Integration” and serving as the example of how to live in harmony with all things. They will teach by being this example.



Indigo 3

These are the Polarity Integrators. These groups of Indigos have a very challenging task indeed. We need to honor these beloved ones with the gift they bring humanity. Indigo 3’s are soul essences that are assisting in the evolution of the less evolved, often aggressive, soul with whom they may share within the same body. They are incarnating in this way to heal the vast levels of distortion between a genetically enhanced soul and a less evolved soul. This way as they integrate these two extreme soul aspects within the same bio-energy field, they are creating the unification of these two poles that allow a template for polarity integration. This template, when created in this realm, can then more easily heal and unify the love and fear polarities. This is a way to fully integrate the levels of mental-emotional polarity humans have experienced for many time cycles. Over time, these levels of imbalance created huge amounts of karmic patterning held within the bodies of all humans, including the planetary body.

Also, these Indigo level soul contracts were needed as the human lineage has experienced great levels of pain and fear resulting from the original “separation” imprint from source. This pain and fear over many evolutionary cycles created distortion in the cellular memory of the planet and within all of the collective consciousness.

Additionally there has been genetic manipulation or hybridization that has created damage to the Divine Human’s 12 Strand DNA blueprint within certain soul groups. As we journey back into the light in this Ascension Cycle, this soul purpose helps assist the planet in dissolving the fear and its related distortions into the higher vibrations of love. In some Indigo 3’s, the huge chasm between the two soul essences sharing the same body sometimes disrupts the natural balance of the bio-energy field. These two or more soul essences may create a conflict within the DNA instruction template that disrupts or limits certain physical functioning. This then can manifest in the physical body as imbalances in the neurotransmitters of the brain and the endocrine system. The endocrine system is our glandular system which is responsible for secreting hormones into our blood stream to normalize certain bodily functions. Everything within the body’s system of metabolic regulation is due to hormonal production from our glandular system. These hormonal or chemical disruptions in the body can create intermittent or chronic extremes of mental and/or emotional detachment from the 3D reality. In the more severe cases of this chemical disruption, impairments of the brain and other physical neurological functions become evident. In recent years, we have seen a huge acceleration of cases of childhood Autism, ADD and other learning or behavioral disorders. These soul groups are largely Indigo 3’s.



Planetary Leadership

Some of us may identify with all of these aspects of Indigo Typing. These are usually the spiritually developed souls that have ambitious contracts of Planetary Leadership. Many times a soul will have come in to experience this level of mastery on the physical plane in order to have greater impact on human development during this time. Many of us can evolve and grow into these new contracts in this lifetime, as the Spiritual Masters are always cultivating new representatives of themselves for the physical plane. We are stepping up in the evolutionary scale to be the Ascended Masters embodied in the physical. As it has been referred to previously, WE are the externalization of the Spiritual Hierarchy here on Earth! That time is here for All of us now!

For this month do continue to work on techniques exercising your intuitive perception. Learn to listen to your body and "feeling" senses and to more finely hone your skill. Working with your Higher Self journaling and automatic writing will be most helpful for increased clarity on your internal questions. Start asking more about your journey this year. What do you need to work on now? Surprisingly, many of the most challenging circumstances you are facing are exactly aligned with your perfect soul path. You are clearing some of the deepest layers ever! When this becomes clear to you, that the divine is supporting you fully, it really can shift your attitude to gratitude. This developing your relationship to your Higher Self will greatly activate your inherent abilities of Higher Sensory Perception. Pay attention around the full moon in Mid May to give yourself extra loving care during some of the intense Ascension energies we will experience. Use that Full moon to enhance your communication with the Spiritual Hierarchy. Until next time, stay in the luminosity of your Heart and Soul Path! We are here as One!

We are all living and evolving cells of the evolving universe ... and we grow and evolve with the universe ... as we are that !

That Light is not somewhere "else", not somewhere "beyond" our physical existence, nor is it simply a universal condition that existed in the distant past and is now out of reach. It shines within us right now as the very source of our being. In that Light, we are quite literally unified with the entire Universe. We always have been and always will be.

This transcendental state of unity is certainly an abstract concept, and in metaphysical languages we might have to refer to it as a higher dimension, but that higher dimension is not separate from our everyday experience of the physical world. On the contrary, it provides the very substance of our entire experience of being here now. It is the "stuff" of both consciousness and matter, from our living bodies to inanimate rocks to the distant quasars. If that Cosmic Light were not shining forth at this very moment, nothing whatsoever would exist.

The essence of mystical knowledge resonates with our deepest level of being, yet it persistently defies our logic-oriented minds. Normal objective logic is based on the knowledge of material separateness, and as far as our everyday existence is concerned, this is what reality is. To the ancient mystics, this is the classical trap.

The physical level of experience is that part of our being which makes us think we are separate, when in Reality we are not. If we think the physical is the only mode of being, we have fallen into the trap of the ego-self -- we have become so fully attached to the material realm that we too easily think of our body as our only mode of selfness, and have come to think of it as the only part of our being. This causes us, for example, to fear death. We fear death because we cannot see beyond it -- we have essentially no awareness of our true multi-dimensional reality and those modes of our being which are independent of the physical body.

The material world is transient -- things come and go, bioforms included. To the mystic, all forms of impermanence are a type of non-reality, and in many of the ancient teachings, such as in the writings of one of the most highly revered non-dualists, Shankara, we find the physical level being referred to as illusion. This is not to say that it doesn't really exist, but rather that we see its true form in a limited, illusory sense. There is no doubt that the physical experience is real. If we walk into a brick wall, it hurts -- both the wall and the pain are real enough. But the pain will pass, the goose-egg will heal, and the wall will eventually crumble. What is important to realize is that through all the experiences of change, the true reality which underlies and creates the physical world of change does not change. That level of reality which never changes is the most real -- everything else is temporary and illusory. The ultimate substance and reality of the Universe is not separate particles scattered around in space, but rather a timeless condition of Universal Light.

Chapter Eleven ... Integrating the momentum of change, as a population. The catalyst for wars, famines, and natural disasters. Deferring to your own truth over reality by consensus.
 

We are all of One essence. And even though the momentum is one in which the actions of the collective affects each of the parts, and the choices of every individual affects the whole, there is an overriding impetus of Divine intent driving the process. Unity will come to be. And it is all of little consequence, from the collective vantage point of All Creation, whether beings at a particular crossroads in time and space make the contribution of resistance or nonresistance to the energies of change. These powerful forces will carry you with them - flowing in the direction in which Life Itself is going and at the pace at which Life Itself is traveling - either way. Your perception of the journey, your personal experience of it, is what you are here to create. All the rules are changing now. Your world, as you have been schooled to understand it, has already ceased to be. The cellular structure of every life form on your planet has been altered. The resonant vibration of every living thing has been augmented. And the attunement of all consciousness to heightened levels of existence has been achieved. As a race, the human population has opened itself to receive the gift of Grace. And even though precious few are aware of that shift, all are manifesting the result, in one form or another. Some, who have recognized their newfound abilities to manifest reality as they would like it to be, have learned to pool their collective strengths and to create a force for change on behalf of all. These ones, who are small but growing in number, have set the pace for others in the "here and now", and continue to demonstrate by their own choices the possibilities available to all. These are the forerunners of a new paradigm. These are the pioneers whose lives herald a world whose rules are being written and continue to be rewritten in the moment. The pace at which change is manifesting is an ongoing phenomenon. Life is not simply turning the page and writing itself a new overall script to which all must adhere to indefinitely. The very foundations for the creation of your reality are, in fact, ever changing. In these times, that change is happening at a pace so rapid that it can be noted, not only in the cosmic overview of your history, or even by a generation, but in a single lifetime. Yours.


Your very life is a testimonial to change. And as you become consciously aware that the only thing that can be counted on is realization that nothing can be counted on, you will shift from a mind-set of expectation to one of allowance. You cannot "control" anything, now. You are, in fact, totally "out of control." And these are the optimum conditions for maximizing the process of energy integration and for manifesting life experiences that you will find enjoyable. Resistance to the reality that things are not the way they are, when you were schooling purportedly taught you the rules of the game, will only reinforce the difficulties you may choose to create for yourself. Openness to what your own experiences has shown you is real is the best possible response to the conditions at hand. It matters less what others may be saying, or what the so-called teachers of your times may be espousing as truth. Your own experience is the highest truth, for you. And it is this reality that, ideally, serves as your lamplight in the uncharted territory of these times. Each of you is a master in your own right. Each of you has sufficient life experience to serve as a reference point for what is so, for you. Conditioned deference to the leadership of others over the input of one's own experience can only inhibit the pace at which you travel on your journey. For, your life is a testimonial to your own choices and the insights you are able to glean from them. The habit of looking to others for a nod of approval does not serve to reinforce your autonomy as a self-realized being. It reflects and fosters dependency. There is but one truth on which you can depend, no matter what - your own.

All things are possible now. In essence, the slate has been wiped clean. It is a new kind of world. One in which dreams can be realized in an instant. One in which the deities who walk amongst you can be recognized as your own emerging selves. It is a world where you are able to feel supported, happy, and successful in your endeavors. And one where indescribable joy of being in sync with the momentum of limitlessness, is your birthright. These are the conditions at hand. Right Here. Right Now. Not someday. But in this very moment. The sacred journey of transformation has delivered you right to the doorstep. All that is optional is whether you choose to cross the threshold and experience.

After a series of really interesting UFO and Crop Circle Doodles, Google is back in peaceful~action with a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the man who is known all around the world for his message of Ahimsa (non-violence) which he shared with humanity by setting an example ... his life !




Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in Porbandar, a coastal town in present-day Gujarat, India, on 2 October 1869. His father, Karamchand Gandhi, who belonged to the Hindu Modh community, was the diwan (Prime Minister) of the eponymous Porbander state, a small princely state in the Kathiawar Agency of British India. His grandfather's name was Uttamchand Gandhi fondly called as Uttam Gandhi and his mother, Putlibai came from the Hindu Pranami Vaishnava community. Growing up with a devout mother and the Jain traditions of the region, the young Mohandas absorbed early the influences that would play an important role in his adult life; these included compassion to sentient beings, vegetarianism, fasting for self-purification, and mutual tolerance between individuals of different creeds.

The Indian classics, especially the stories of Shravana and Maharaja Harishchandra from the Indian epics, had had a great impact on Gandhi in his childhood. The story of Harishchandra, a well known tale of an ancient Indian king and a truthful hero, had a profound effect on Gandhi as a boy. Gandhi in his autobiography admits that it left an indelible impression on his mind. Gandhi's early self-identification with Truth and Love as the supreme value is traced back to his identification with these epic characters. "Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well" "Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony" "You must be the change you want to see in the world" "You must not lose faith in humanity. Steve Bhaerman is an internationally known author, humorist, and workshop leader. For the past 18 years, he has written and performed as Swami Beyondananda, the “Cosmic Comic.” Swami’s comedy has been called “irreverently uplifting” and has been described both as “comedy disguised as wisdom” and “wisdom disguised as comedy.”

As the Swami, Steve is the author of four books, Driving Your Own Karma, When You See a Sacred Cow.. Milk It For All It’s Worth, Duck Soup for the Soul, and his latest Swami for Precedent: A 7-Step Plan to Heal the Body Politic and Cure Electile Dysfunction. Swami’s nationally syndicated spoof advice column, Ask the Swami -- along with his comedy performances -- have found a wide and appreciative audience.

In his “past life” (before Swami), Steve started an alternative high school in Washington, D.C. and co-authored a book about his experiences, No Particular Place to Go: Making of a Free High School. A political science major, he later taught history to autoworkers at Wayne State University in Detroit as part of the Weekend College.

In 1980, Steve co-founded Pathways Magazine in Ann Arbor, Michigan, one of the first publications bringing together holistic health, personal growth, spirituality, and politics. The Swami was a regular comedy feature in Pathways, and helped launch Steve’s career as the cosmic comic. Welcome to the Sane Asylum

The shift has hit the fan !

Humanity has shifted its karma into surpassing gear, and political climate change has come to America. Thanks to a grassroots up-wising, we the people huffed and puffed together in the same direction and the winds of change blew in a breath of fresh air. And we can all breathe easier.

The vote in November was more than a vote for a new President. It was a vote for a new precedent – to overgrow the “lowest common dominator” paradigm and take a step towards government of the people, by the people, for the people where the government does our bidding, not the bidding of the highest bidder -- and where the Golden Rule can finally overrule the rule of gold. In the short term, the up-wising has been successful, and the American Evolution has begun. The first big shots have been fired, and we are on the road to recovering from an eight-year bout with Mad Cowboy Disease and Electile Dysfunction.

But now, if we want to heal the body politic of conditions like Deficit Inattention Disorder, Truth Decay and the deadliest one of all, an unchecked Military Industrial Complex, we must elect ourselves. Spiritually, it’s time to quiet our barking dogmas and evolve past the Ten Commandments to an even greater realization – the One Suggestion: “We are all in it together.” Once a critical mass of us chooses to live by this credo, we can avoid the critical massacre called Armageddon, create Disarmageddon instead, and achieve fulfillment as a species -- Humanifest Destiny.


The End of the Age of Nefarious ?

Every journey into the light is preceded by a dark passage, and our entry into the Age of Aquarius is no different. As predicted in the celebrated quatrain (“When the goon moves into Lincoln’s house, and stupider aligns with Mars, then greed will guide the planet and fear obscure the stars ...”), the Age of Nefarious delayed the start of the new millennium. But now the quatrain is heading down a new track, and soular power is shining a light on the endarkened corridors of soulless power.

Just as the eight-year journey that took us from Whitewater to Blackwater was coming to an end, some overzealous Bush-bashers hurled footwear to give the departing regime one final boot. That was understandable, but unnecessary. Better we should keep our shoes on, and use them to stand together at a time when healing wounds is more important than wounding heels. Besides, without Bush there could have been no Obama. His alarming actions awakened more people than Buddha, and a body politic in a fear-induced coma miraculously regained consciousness.

And now there is a new President: Barack Hussein Obama. After eight years of insanity, we can proclaim to the world, “America has a President Hussein!”

So now, we must face another awesome truth: We are living in a world gone sane.






Trickle Down Goes Belly Up


It’s a good thing our political fates are on the upswing, as our economy has taken a sharp downturn. The house of credit cards economy based on trickle down has gone belly up, and we must face another, sadder truth. Individually and collectively, we’ve been suffering from Deficit Inattention Disorder, and since we were unable to do the math, we must now do the aftermath. It’s a buy-o-logical fact. You cannot spend more than you have. Nature knows this. We can use no more energy than what we have in reserve. We cannot charge energy on our Ascended Master Card and repay it next lifetime.

So yes, the casino economy coming down, but there is an upside to the meltdown. There is a great opportunity in the crisis. Consider this. When the dollar hits zero, we can pay off our entire $10 trillion national debt and hardly feel it!

Meanwhile, over the past eight years we have seen the fall of reptilian entities like Enronosaurus Wrecks, and most recently a character named Madoff made off with billions. Our entire economic system has been revealed as an extraordinary ponzi scheme where ordinary people are left holding the empty bag.

Unfortunately, this is nothing new. It’s the same old needy-greedy where our collective fear of not having enough -- “scare city” -- has empowered those privatizing privateers who are plundering our planet with their mining operations: that’s mine, that’s mine, that’s mine. This mining has overmined the planet and undermined humanity. Thus, the emergency we face right now.

So, what do we do? I am glad I asked that question. We must go beyond the fear-based state of emergency, to a state of emergent seeing. That is where we emerge and see the genuine wealth that is all around us: the virtually infinite energy from Father Sun, the prolific nourishment Mother Earth brings us every season, the love we generate from our hearts, and the inventiveness of our minds. With this realization, we have a one way ticket out of scare city ... and we enter a state of a-bun-dance. That is where we get up off our assets, move our buns, face the music and dance together. In using our resources to create good goods and greater goodness, we can weave a web of mass construction that will make us all interdependently wealthy.



Heartland Security and Purple People Power


So ... how do we do this? How do we go from our habitual “every cell for itself” consciousness that has caused our current “mining disaster”, to acting on the evolutionary truth that we are in reality “all cells in the body of humanity?” How do we shift from survival of the fittest to thrival of the fittingest?

First we must move from the fear-based Homeland Security to the love-based Heartland Security, and realize our one true security is in the land of the heart. While the beliefs in our head fool us all the time, the love in our heart is foolproof. When we face up to love, we can face down the fear.

What this means in practical reality is that we must step across the “red-blue” political divide that has kept us separate, and show our true colors as one purple people. Yes, we have all been wounded by polarizing politics, so let’s give ourselves a purple heart, and take the next courageous step to cohere around our shared “heart core” values and become ... we, the purple.

I have a dream ... that the rednecks shall lie down with the blue necks, and we tune out the polarizing mainstream media, which is sadly a brainwashing machine stuck on spin. More than ever, we need forums not againstums, dialogue instead of debate. When the body politic stops mass-debating and chooses to have healthy, pleasurable intercourse, we will finally create a healthy brainchild together.

This February, we celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s bicentennial, and our friend Richard Lederer (the anagram master known as Riddler Reacher), tells us that when we scramble the letters in “Barack Hussein Obama,” we get “Abraham is back: One U.S.”

You don’t have to be a Barack-backer to see that instead of relying on leaders from above, the next evolutionary step is for us to become the leaders we have been waiting for. I am Lincoln. You are Lincoln. We are Lincoln. And by linkin’ together, we free ourselves from slavery to the divisive beliefs in our minds, and form a more perfect union in the land of the heart.

Sure, these ideas may seem far-fetched, but we are nearer to fetching them than ever before. Remember, we are now living in a world gone sane. Change is ahead, change is afoot, and everything is changing from head to foot. Like it or not, we are destined to have heaven on earth. Might as well get used to it.





Keys to Transformation

WINNER AWARENESS. Just remember that each of us has been given a special gift -- of Life -- just for entering. So, you are already a winner!

HOOT DEVELOPMENT. Become a FUNdamentalist -- make sure the Fun always comes before the mental!

Realize that life is a situation comedy that will never be cancelled. A laugh track has been provided, and the reason why we are put here in the material world is to get more material.

Any material in life that we laugh at can be used to fuel our karma. When we add a spark of joy to any painful material in life, this causes an explosion of mirth – and this bubbling of laughter causes esteem to rise. So turning material into esteem is what empowers our karma.

Laughter is a transformational tool that used wisely can bring not just physical healing, but emotional release, mental flexibility, spiritual perspective and a return of the innocent playfulness that so many of us abandoned when we were tricked into believing that life is serious.

Laughter produces endorphins, our body’s natural painkiller. Laughter improves immune function. Hearty laughter is literally good for the heart, because when we laugh it causes our blood vessels to dilate. And that is certainly better than having them die early!

Don’t Worry — You’re Already Funny. Instead of trying to be funny, learn to see funny. Especially learn to see what’s funny about you. Imagine God watching the Comedy Channel, and you are what’s on.

Follow Swami Beyondananda’s sage advice and become a Divinely creative plaything. Bring the childlike quality of play back into your life. Run up the down escalator. Dress for Halloween -- any day the mood hits you. Plant the seeds of harmless fun — wherever you go.

Have a good laughsitive twice a day, and that will insure regularhilarity.
